I am not gay, but have gay friends, I think that being able to talk openly about gay/lesbian life etc without making fun of it or showing how manly you are and how you love women is a good indicator that you are happy with your sexuality!

I have a friend with 2 kids. He's now split up with his wife and lives with his boyfriend...

For me the obvious one is that I have no idea if a guy is good looking or not. My wife (and all females it seems) can see if a girl is good looking, but I simply have no idea if a guy would be considered good looking or not...

I'm fairly sure everyone is aware of their sexuality from a relatively early age. It's a case of whether he/she confronts it. Obviously you hear stories about people who are married with kids and then later find themselves in same-sex relationships but I find it very hard to believe that homosexual desires suddenly arise from nowhere.

Although society is far more tolerant than it was a generation ago, being gay is still considered taboo and unnatural by plenty - particularly religious nutters - and it's highly likely that the examples quoted above are people who have supressed their desires because they wanted to do 'the right thing'.

Re Bowie btw he was experimenting with differnet personas (Aladin sane , Ziggy etc ) allowed him to break apart and rebuid his psyche as he saw fit . So while you can have a "set " sexuality like anything if you choose to you can change it .

Slightly off topic but continuing the Gay Theme and the above post re David Bowie

Bowie indeed had a number of Alter ego's but these where created characters in his attempts to be ever changing and different and not to use as screens to hide his sexuality behind . He openly admitted to being bisexual but not gay....he had a very healthy appetite for the ladies as well as the men.

Now he is settled down with children and a stunning wife and I am sure happy that he as David Bowie not Aladdin sane (who was simply a progression of Ziggy in America, and more an album title than a real character IMO) is happy in the knowledge that he explored his own sexuality without the need to feel that he had to hide it, even back in the 70's.

I do not consider myself gay or bisexual, i can look at a man and find him attractive but I am not sexually attracted to men in any way…..if that makes sense?

I think the real honest answer is, No one really knows if they are gay or not, but just assume they are either Arthur or Marther

That's to do with protecting fanbases, though, isn't it? George Michael didn't come out for years and Boyzone's Steven Gateley didn't until after Boyzone split up. I also read somewhere that Elton John's sales in America collapsed after he came out.
