Yeah, I think your measured approach meant they kept it going for longer.

Shame they cut that bit as it’s more than likely true, but understandable from their point of view.

It really is great the coverage we are getting after some hard graft from many Shrimpers. Really appreciate everyone’s hard work.

I have to say I’m hugely exasperated that Matt Slater did not talk about us on the Overlap, feels almost unforgivable the opportunity missed there.
Big time, especially as he's such a huge Southend fan and missed the opportunity to publicly school Carragher to look outside the privileged Premier League and see several other clubs that are way worse-run than Everton.

And to be fair to Crate if someone says something that, for whatever reason, could place them in legal jeopardy by not including he is not only protecting himself as the publisher but also the individual concerned. This is why Medways's approach may have been in the end far more effective than some others (at least that would be my speculation).

Was it live? If not, it may be that he did mention it, but it was cut. Matt has certainly never been shy to mention our plight in the past.

Believe me, I've turned the air blue when talking about him privately. Thought it was better to be more measured for something like this.

When they told us it had been uploaded and published, they said it was after several back-and-forths with their lawyers. I noticed they cut out a bit where I suggested he was cash poor and asset wealthy (ish), that the money he'd put into the club perhaps wasn't his own personal wealth but probably loans secured against some of his land and developments, and that perhaps the abilty/room for manoeuvre to loan against his assets had dried up.

I guess they thought that bit was potentially litigious which is fair enough. But staying calm meant that was the only bit they cut. They said it'd be 5 mins but spoke to me for 12 mins and published 10 mins, so I'm taking that as a win!
Most rich (some not all) will have more in assets than cash. They will probably have enough cash to last them a year on their spending but the bulk will be kept in assets. You're going to earn more from your assets (property, land etc) than you would with it sitting in a bank account earning interest (even with the rates going up recently).

The issue with this though is when you need access to cash quickly it takes time for something to go through (sale of a house, land etc)

Not yet listened to it will but will have a listen at some point today.

Not very fair that. He'd potentially have been criticised for editorialising the podcast to suit his own agenda, which wouldn't be worth taking the flak for. Furthermore, whilst Carragher's view may have erred on the sensationalist, it's by no means a widely held review among football fans.

By all means barrack Carragher for closed-mindedness and lacking deftness around an emotive subject, but it's unjust to confuse Slater's professionalism as tacit agreement with Carragher's opinion.

Nowhere have I suggested that he agrees with Carragher's opinion. Far from it. I know that Matt is a huge SUFC fan and there is no way he will agree with it. All I've suggested is that, whilst I understand he's professional and wouldn't want to hijack the podcast, he may have missed an opportunity there to spread the word a bit, using Carragher's Everton assertions last week as the starting point for a 5-minute conversation. I'm sure he had very good reasons why he didn't, though.

That was me. Great experience. Football Weekly has a wide listenership so a great way to get word out there of what's going on here. Already had 4 non-SUFC mates message me saying they heard me on the podcast, didn't realise it was so bad and wishing us well. So hopefully it's working in that sense.
Medway Blue listened to this last night. You did yourself and the supporters proud. Thank you and please keep fighting and communicating on our behalf..

Would have thought Carragher could have spat something about us out!
