One thing we can say with that last "statement" is he hasn't lied I suppose, which is something...

But at the same time it hasn't filled any of us with confidence that:

a) the loan has been "agreed"

or

b) that a loan will arrive before 1st March.

We are now in a situation where panic is ensuing and all sorts of scenarios will be played out amongst the fanbase. Who can blame them?

It's rank awful custodianship and we deserve much much better.

The bit that gets me is, he could, as he has done so many times before, said it’s all in hand, it’s an admin issue, everything is hunky dory, don’t panic etc etc. But he hasn’t. That speaks more volume than any sentence in that statement.

Hypothetically, let’s say that he’s not got the funds in place and is struggling to secure them as of right now (I say hypothetically, because even though that looks to be the case on paper, it may very well not be) why hasn’t he given us the usual statement that we’ve all involuntarily grown accustomed to, similar to which I’ve alluded to above?

I mean, it’s one of the only real times he could have lied (in order to calm a few nerves) without worrying about the consequences. Because let’s face it, if it turns out he is/was lying, then it’s hardly going to matter come March 1st when he’ll have much bigger issues to worry about - amoung them, a few thousand ****ed off Southend fans.

Why hasn’t he spoken with the usual pomp and vigour you’d expect from him?

Is it the lack of caring (which so many have accused him of over the years) has finally come to the surface and he cannot be bothered to hide it anymore, and that’s why he hasn’t moved to quell the fans fears? Is it the ego complex: I.e. take us to the brink of failure and emerge as the saviour in the 11th hour? Is this some sort of revenge for those pesky oiks bothering him at his home on a Sunday afternoon and putting up a nasty banner across from the ground? Or is it a something else altogether? Are the funds (loan) available to him, but he’s now searching out other alternatives?

We’ve probably heard the same rumblings coming from within the club that the money/loan isn’t an issue, it will be secured, the debt will be paid and everything will be plain sailing for the foreseeable. Who knows if that’s true, or whether that’s been leaked in order to calm some tensions 🤷‍♂️ I don’t know anymore.

But what I do know is, I’ve beaten this drum for over a decade now, this man has no business running our football club. He’s used us as a vehicle to achieve his dream and almost euthanised us in the process. He still might. The lack of understanding and compassion he has for generations of Southend fans, the bonds that have been made and what this club means to the wider community, are nothing short of criminal.

A week ago, I was 90% sure the debt would be paid, Phase 2 of the new ground would start imminently and we’d all be wiping our brows and saying it shouldn’t have got that close, but we live to fight another day. I’m not 90% sure today. Nowhere near. Not after that statement.

Ron does not make a statement and it is a disgrace etc.

Ron makes a statement and it is a disgrace etc.

In fact, whether he makes a statement or not is quite irrelevant as the only thing that matters right now is whether he can secure the loan he needs to keep the club afloat.

Whether he can do this or not will not depend on any 'statements' he may have made or might make in the future.

Can he do it? No idea. I suspect the uncertain financial situation is not helping as inflation, and, other increased costs must reduce the original profit forecasts for the scheme. Any uncertainty could make borrowing money harder and/or more expensive.

If you are Christian burn candles; if you are Chinese burn joss sticks as some kind of divine intervention may be needed. It seems to me it is now all in the lap of the Gods.

All will be revealed soon enough and trying to persuade anyone on here that it is/is not all Ron's fault is a total waste of time as it will not change anyone's minds, as, on this issue, they have been well and truly made up.

My thanks to those who have been the source of reliable information before and who have their ears closer to the ground than most, as, in the absence of any other news, their input in is invaluable.

My seat belt is fastened!

What if Ron no longer needs a bridging loan?

He might be in negotiations with a new owner/partner as we post :Winking:
Think Ron wants the kudos of saying oh I have delivered for the fans and the town as a whole a new stadium and a monument put up in celebration of his achievements 🤣

That would be good of course and I would be mightily relieved but then absolutely pi..ed off, that he didnt do so many years ago, when it was obvious he was struggling and we have had to subsequently endure absolute misery courtesy of Rons constant failings

And so if he did secure a new/owner I can only hope if Ron retains a share its modest enough for him to be very far away in the background with little influence

How you know @rigsby 🤷🏻‍♂️ I am sure RM wouldn’t want his family’s get any abuse as they are associated to a man who have killed the club.

Ex Bury FC owner wouldn’t step his foot into Bury ever again, or he get lynched by Bury fans.
