Have I just done a stupid bet?

As I have so little to do right now, I might also join in this betting fun and games. Might even keep some sort of a diary to let you know how I'm getting on.

Incidentally, with our betting syndicate we had a policy where we put half our money on bets each time. I think the most jittery period was sticking around £50 each on Leeds for one game where they threw away the result in the last minute!! There's definitely high risk here but you have to back your judgement really.

Multipliers are really dodgy though, hence the odds!

Mansion were running a nice little promotion at the end of last season where if you bet £50 on the Asian handicaps on certain games (coincidentally all involving Man U, just after Man U had snubbed them for AIG) you'd get your money back if you lost. Was quite a nice little earner if you laid them off at betfair!

Mansion also were offering a free $500 bet on the start of the American Football season. Unfortunately I didn't get on quick enough and they'd withdrawn the offer before I had the chance to get involved.

I've decided to just do Watford but I've put £62.67 on it which if Watford win, will bring me back about £150 (including the stake).

Have a feeling im getting a tad carried away here

Fingers crossed!

Come on the Watford!

I would have gone Watford but I couldn't get online quick enough.

Damn wireless. Could go with them live betting but with Queudrue's free kicks, the value just doesn't seem to be there.

I've opened an account with Tote where they match your first bet up to £25 with a free bet and stuck £25 on Oxford tomorrow against Southport. Their squad looks quality and even though they were lucky as you like the last time I bet on them, I reckon they'll walk that game. Still got a bit of work to beat you to the grand...

Goddammit!! (For me)

Get in!! (For Mighty Shrimper)

2-0 Watford and I'm thinking about the 30 odd pound profit I could be counting tonight...

What a game, though. Not the best quality of football on display but an open game helped when Fulham had about 8 attackers on the pitch. Both managers will be gutted though!

For any kids watching, this is what can happen in gambling. Even when you think you've won, you haven't yet.

Incidentally, Fulham were 33-1 to win at 2-0 down and the draw was a very tempting 9-1.

Comiserations to Mighty Shrimper.

ho hum. thats the way it goes

Not too dissapointed though as i'm still well up from the other bets

What an up and down game though!

f%&ked my accumulator up. I had Watford, Blackpool, Man United, Sheffield United and Reading this weekend. Ho hum.

Oh, and MS I hope you've got that kind of money to throw away... 60 notes is a fair bit.
wow.gif
I'm a pretty committed football better, but I only have a fiver on that accumulator (payout would have been £150ish)....

I made a big risk with the Barca game. I won but I wont be doing that again! After that I made a withdrawal of £200 and put part of my profit onto the manutd/spurs double which also won then put part of that on the derrycity/benfica, valencia bet which won again so then I made another withdrawal of £40 so I'd put £130 of profit back into my bank which left me with about £60.

The way I thought about it was, I've already made a big IMO profit of £130 which was now safe in my bank and still had £60 left so I thought why not just whack it on Watford. Money that I never really had so I thought I wont miss what I havent got my hands on yet. I dont usualy do football bets at all and if I ever do its only the odd £2 on a weekend accumulator.

I wont be putting that sort of money on again though

Quote[/b] (Dave the Shrimper @ Oct. 02 2006,10:57)]Week by week i backed a few safe home here and there and half way through last season I had amased just over £400 PROFIT from £15. It tooks me ages and loads of crappy wins but win little and often was my moto.
Great advice. Ive been using this method since the start of this season and to be honest it takes alot of patience when you are only winning 15 or 20 quid a week, but it certainly pays off in the long run.

What you tend to find is that with the opening up of football betting online, especially where members of the public can buy and lay-off bets, there's plenty of money to be made cleaning out all the less than clever bookmakers or punters.

I had an enjoyable and thoroughly profitable time poring through the betting websites the other day, soon after it was announced on 5Live sports round-up that Forfar had asked the SFA for a postponement to their match at Peterhead (as they only had 8 fit players), but were refused.

It toook a while searching but there were 1 or 2 bookmakers and a punter on 2 on betfair where the information either hadn't reached them or they hadn't updated their prices. I put a fair amount on the Peterhead win outright, win with a 3 handicap and win with a 5 handicap.

They won 8-0. It was later revealed that £150,000 had been heaped on Peterhead after Forfar had failed to get the game called off. There is, therefore, clearly plenty of easy money to be made, it's just having the canniness of knowing where and when.

How good would that be? 'The Road to a grand", who will be the first to get there etc etc
Someone did that on Betfair a few years ago. His username was a long the lines of 'One to Ten Thousand'. He only backed selections at odds of 1/14 or less, each time putting all his money on. Starting with a couple of quid, he got to a couple of thousand before lumping on Pakistan in a ODI against the Windies, but Pakistan collapsed unbeliveably to do him out of his money.

I posted yesterday the triple backing of the Watford, Fulham and the Draw. I followed the advice and overall bet £134.30.

I got back today £163.56 (The reason for the £29.26 profit is from the joining offer of the website) and because i placed 'X amount' as a new member on the Bet24 website i have a free 30Euros which i cannot withdraw until i have trebeled what they have given me.

I have placed that on an Oxford win with Southport +1 handicap @ 1.87.

Not bad eh! Ive just got to wait a few days for all the transactions to go through, the money i originally withdrew has not left my bank account, and the winings i deposited this morning is also pending!
I'd reccomend trying it at least once for some free £££

I'd recommend the site that Napster posted on here. They have a whole forum about it with tips and ways to maximise your money. I went through a company called rpoints that reward you fro joining certain bookies and the people on the forum swear by it.

Signed up for Totesport who promise to match your first bet with a free one and also accumualted a clutch of points for doing it that actually seem quite valuable. As long as you keep an eye on teh big picture, this sort of method seems very good for a quick buck with a lot of bookies.

If anyone does fancy signing up with rpoints,

Here's a link

I have to admit though, the points haven't been credited yet, nor have I tried to do anything with them so I can't vouch for them.
