Humberside County FC - Southend United FC 0 - 3

View game: HT Live
Date: 22/06/2004 at 21.00
MatchID: 18795923
Arena: Humberside Park
Crowd: 13340

13340 spectators arrived at Humberside Park, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Humberside had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: LiVolti - Vanni, Sparrow, Nixon, Bucknall - Sheldon, Looney, Collins, Allen - Thomas, Shatner.

Southend started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Vidini - Mårtensson, Lunde, O'Hagan - Herwig, Ruskin, Rorison, Parsonage, MacLean - Panagopoulos, Tiernan.

Humberside tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but kept getting stuck on the visitors defenders. Southend took the lead in the games 26:th minute with 0 - 1 after some elegant plays down the middle. Jacob Ruskin was the scorer. Anton Tiernan came close to extending the visitors lead as he, completely unmarked in front of the goal, lifted a ball over Pat LiVolti, hitting the bar. Halftime score was 0 - 1. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Southend, with an impressive 64 percent possession of the ball.

Jacob Ruskin sailed high, high above the opponents as he headed the 0-2 in after a corner kick after 52 minutes of play. Christos Panagopoulos increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 3. After this Southend lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. The referee showed Southends Jacob Ruskin the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Humberside were forced to a substitution as Patrick Bucknall couldn´t continue playing due to the rough treatment, forcing Kenny Douglas to come in from the sidelines. Jacob Ruskin of Southend got sent off for kicking the ball after the whistle, a completely uncalled for move, earning him his second yellow card of the game. Seemingly due to lack of experience, Robert Parsonage needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. Humberside, bringing the final ball possession rate to 67 percent, dominated the battle.

The most dominating Humberside player was without a doubt Kevin Shatner. However, Keith Collins made a disastrous appearance. Southend´s best player was Anders Mårtensson. Robert Parsonage on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 3.

HS take heed as these are probably the most precious words you can receive.

also something you will want to do quite quickly is get your youth team up to solid/excellent. to do this you must pay the max !3k a week but it is well worth it as every week you get to have a youth pull, these at first wont be brilliant but will get better. You can then either sell or train these players and it another way of either making cash or improving your squad.

Thanks for the advice KS/Birri!
When i get my team do you already get an arena or do i build one? If i have to build one how big do you recommend?

you get an arena from scratch but the capacity is 7,000 i think i cant remember, but this will be sufficent intially. once you have some cash and you have played a bit and are doing ok top 3 then expand the stadium.

Stadium income is a good earner as well but this is reflectd by the amount of fans you have. there are some formulas that work out how many terraces, seated terraces, seats and vip spaces you should have.

I am not sure you will be allowed to move Country, I know you can move region in the close season. The country your team is based in is where you reside or where you entered your address when you signed up. So unless you made a gaff when signing up, not sure what you can do. MAybe you will need to speak to the USA GM or maybe the English GM. Oh yeah there is no United Kingdom it is split as per FIFA, so there is England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

I just accidentally put one of my passable mids up for sale for 10k by mistake arse ! will have to hope for a bidding war to bump his price cant see anyone noy buying him

cheers bob I just put a post on BDF asking the guys on there if I would get in trouble for bidding on him will wait & see how it pans out.

I've only been doing this a couple of weeks, but one bit of advice I have is when you are firing/hiring staff, make sure it's on the setting you want to do. I wasted 10,000 which is alot to me at the moment becuase I hired 2 doctors instead of firing them and then I did it again so I had 8 doctors which I had to fire and it was very bad and annoying, but rather comical.

glory in the first round, although my "excellent" keeper is now injured for two weeks
Kent Athletic FC - GNH United 0 - 8

View game: HT Live
Date: 22/06/2004 at 21.00
MatchID: 18793981
Arena: Kent Road
Crowd: 6243

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 6243 to Kent Road. Athletic had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Kavanagh - Maybury, Prior, Harrison, Kamel - Charles, Beramendi, Langer, Johnson - Randle, Peacock.

United had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Tegner - Paterna, Leinen, Adolphus, Anthony, Pettersson - Flanagan, Rolands, Mansbridge - Gazier, Harris.

United saw most attack opportunites on the wings and were directing their passes that way. After 21 minutes United put themselves up by 0 - 1 as Ledley Harris finished off a strike from the left with a real cannon placed at the far post. United´s Olivier Leinen received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 23rd minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 0 - 2. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. 29 minutes into the game United were awarded a penalty and Jackie Rolands was able to increase the visitors lead to 0 - 3 rolling the ball in by the right post. By now United were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. The referee signalled a penalty in the 31st minute following an offence just inside of the box. Jackie Rolands knocked home 0 - 4 just out of reach for the goaltender. The visitors Ledley Harris took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and central backs in the 36:th minute. 0 - 5 for United. Carlos Paterna of United received a yellow card in the 40:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 5. United held the ball, with a clear 80 percent possession rate.

United made a substitution in the 47:th minute. Fredrik Tegner limped off the field and was replaced by Allen MacCorkindale. The game had been on for 64 minutes when Hugo Flanagan broke through to the right, upping the score to the home crowd´s dismay. United´s were up 0 - 6. Steve Maybury was suffering from cramps and had big difficulties keeping up as the opponentes pushed forward. Carlos Paterna had no problems getting through and hit home the 0 - 7 goal. United´s Ledley Harris received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 74:th minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 0 - 8. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. By then Ledley Harris was a three time scorer - a hat trick! United held the ball, with a clear 89 percent possession rate.

Most important Athletic player was Kingsley Prior. Ralph Peacock was a disappointment, however. The most dominating United player was without a doubt Burt Adolphus. However, Allen MacCorkindale made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 8.

Great job Matt

A word of advice to the new players, invest a fiver or so in a program called Hattrick Manager. As I'm sure ther rest of the guys here will tell you it is invaluable. It helps you select your best team, gives you ratings for where players play best, and the best thing that I have found about it is the able to input the attributes of potential signings and it gives you a number rating which you can compare to your current team players.
