True I was a bit harsh on Bonne. However I think Wood has improved, is stronger and has quite an eye for goal but is given little chance. I get a little irked when we start to conclude we need a good striker but really one who doesnt score? Seems to not quite match the title striker?, especially as they may be hard to come by Maybe Non scoring forward helper would be a better description?

Hope of course like everyone that Bonne comes alight and turns it round. 2 hat tricks might help, but as we head towards 15 games and banjo and barn door come to mind, its a stretch to sustain the title striker and in the past a retain such a "striker " with a a very dismal return

I guess he’s currently at 7 starts 4 sub appearances and two assists… but no goals. But then that’s hardly yet that much of a goal famine. And of course that he can score goals is not in doubt and at 29 he is in his prime. So my glass is half full. The prize is worth the chase.

I wonder after another hat trick, albeit against weaker opposition whether Wood will even make the bench. and be rewarded as such with more bottom splinters, against Yeovil? It does show how positively we have strengthened, even with a small squad. If we could as Kev wants, bring in one or two more, at least we could send the long suffering Wood out on loan, and at this level I think he could do well given game time, and to further develop him, otherwise is he wasting his time with us. ? I accept some views that he is not strictly a striker but he is someone who goes beyond the half way line , looks fitter , quicker and stronger and kicks the ball at goal, and assists very well, whether you wish to designate him with the label winger, front mid, hole sitter,
fake nine or forward runningy man
Meanwhile I hope Bonne scores this Saturday. He is overdue with an average of one goal in every 10 in recent times, means he could knock in a minimum of 4 a season as a striker on current form. but I accept the modern game is more than it used to be , given the need to link play, press , defend , head everything 15 feet in the air, and ball retention etc

However a great scoring record for Bonne to be fair , back in the day with 78 goals in 211 games mostly for Leyton Orient from 2017 onwards, and then including Charlton , QPR and Ipswich and all at a higher level

But call me old fashioned, and I call myself that, as well as Grumpy, ( I genuinely belong to an investment group called the Grumpy Old mans Investment club ) but I have this fantasy that the main job of a striker is to actually score goals and so hope that maybe he will overtake the prolific GMS ,soonish would be good
