Dave Penney wants to get back to the clean sheet mentality, according to what is reported. But has that mentality ever been absent? This speaks volumes. A 1-0 or 1-1 scoreline in prospect. Of course the mantra is always that success is built on the basis of a solid defence. But success also requires players to put the ball in the net at the other end, and preferably more than once. Let's hope that has been emphasised too.

I get behind the team every time I walk in the ground, but I also need I a glimmer of hope from them.... Something that is sadly lacking in the last couple of games...

Agree with this and not just the last home game either. There is a issue for the players playing at Roots Hall and as fans we have to look at ourselves regarding this.

The players need to look at themselves in my book. Served up a load of dross at the Hall. Most people happy to give players a chance but week after week of crap what can anyone expect.

People keep saying on here that we need a win to get the crowd on board. i disagree, we need a PERFORMANCE from the team and the management. If their keeper is mom and we batter them then the crowd will be firmot behind the team.

Well said. We're 7th as it stands...reading some of the posts on here this week you'd be forgiven in thinking we're where Hartlepool are in the league! It seems some can't wait for another loss to jump all over Brown!

I'm not blind to the problems the team are currently having but are these problems enough to suggest Brown should lose his job? Nope. Not even nearly so.

Can understand the sentiment but i think this thread speaks volumes. Next to no confidence in our chances against the basement team. I'd love this to be the first in a nice unbeaten run especially as I am back for the Northampton game.

My argument against the doom mongers is this....we currently occupy a play off spot....won our last league game and have shown we can put a run of results together.....I can see where improvement is needed if course but why pour so much effort into moaning and bitching when actually it aint so bad.

I would be very happy to win 1-0 , but... !!

but.................it should be noted that Hartlepool may not have won (since their 1-2 victory at Exeter last month) in their last five outings, yet they haven't FAILED to score in any of them and have indeed scored twice against Exeter and Newport. One goal may well not be enough this afternoon for three points!!

Not the biggest Brown fan at the moment by any means...but to be fair to his total managerial record, 2 seasons were in the Premier League with Hull, Sturrock only had a very brief stint in the Premier League. With the quality of the Prem, that skews the facts somewhat.
