Harry Cardwell

One question, what happens if they get promoted and have all these players on mega high wage bills, and meeting the financial requirements of the EFL?

Nothing will happen as they are a subsidiary of Green Britain Group Ltd who will just keep on pumping cash into them through legitimate means. From their accounts in 22/23 FGR had a turnover of nearly £8.4m with almost half of that from commercial activities and a wage bill of £5.4m. Of course they still got relegated as you can pay a lot of money to bad managers and players.

Will be interesting to see how he does at FGR. They seem to have a few tall players a manager who likes long ball football and in Tozer a long throw specialist. Although not great to watch that might be the way to get out of this division.

A fantastic player for us. A real warrior leading the line but having to feed off scraps as others have rightly said. I think he will do well in a more offensive team than we are at the moment and I wish him all the best.

Happy for Cards but feel he could have gone to a better club. Still it seems like yesterday that we signed this player with an undistinguished scoring record and got laughed at for buying him by Woking fans. My brother a Braintree fan couldn't even remember him at all. Well done to the coaching staff and Harry's ambition to have made him so much a better player. Hopefully they will work their magic on the new guys.

Dalby was the one Woking laughed at us for not Cards? He was Kettering…

Good luck to the bloke. Working in football is a tightrope with serious injury, new competition for places or manager dislike always lurking around the corner.

He has to make hay while the sun shines, he would be mad not to.

P.s. I hope there is a contract clause preventing him from playing against us!

Apologies. But I do remember a former club fans thinking we were mad. Was it Grimsby. I could of course made this up.
Not sure, his record wasn’t great so we did get the usual groaning but don’t remember fans specifically digging us out about him.

On another note. I remember seeing him in action and his stature was impressive so he was always about more than just goals from the get go.

Grimsby and Stockport… over his fitness and lack of goal scoring record. He is 28 in October and started less than 150 games, and almost half of his goals scored were in the last season. He is clearly a talented hard working player but never struck me as a natural finisher. As some one else said we may miss him more from his defensive work at corners. Good luck to him - his last chance to earn good money. At least he signed a new contract with us when he could have just gone for a free and we would have got nothing for him. Wouldn’t surprise me if he only has to play every other game at FGR - it also means they have weakened a promotion rival.

yep, Harry is going to enjoy the benefit of extra £ but its not all going one way.

After hearing multiple ex-player podcasts, I definitely wouldn’t want to work with/for Steve Cottrell.

It's like a village atmosphere up there, with small crowds and a unique/Marmite culture based on the owner's beliefs.

Yes, Harry will enjoy the pay cheque but there is more to life than that, there is a risk he wont play his best football there.

Amended it for you

I saw that too. Hell of a return on ‘commercial activities’ for club that gets little support - other than from their owner!

Absolutely zero chance. Its not a loan.

Cardwell deserves a fantastic reception from us in both matches this season, much better than Mooney got. Best of luck this season Cardwell, apart from the matches against us.

Best looking player we have had in ages 💔
IF Harry plays and scores against us I will probably definitely be giving him the middle finger and be booing and shouting obscenities in a very unfriendly manner. Looks aren't everything by the way.

On the bench for the 530 ko v Sutton.

Although if you looked at BBC app you wouldn't know that as only showing 6 subs
