I don't, I go along with it, get everyone presents and make happy noises when I open mine, have a laugh and a drink with friends and generally at least try to get in the spirit.[b said:Quote[/b] (Matt the Shrimp @ Nov. 25 2004,11:45)]I wouldn't get too hung up about it...
Ah, a true kindred spirit! Although will probably not be quite so vocal with my anti-Christmas views on here this year as last December I got a fair bit of stick![b said:Quote[/b] (steveh1510 @ Nov. 25 2004,11:38)]I'm cheerful, just don't like Christmas much, the falseness and hyopocricy of it just bores me and to be honest, I don't need an excuse like a religious festival to get ****ed and eat too much.[b said:Quote[/b] (Matt the Shrimp @ Nov. 25 2004,11:25)]That's the "Bah! Cheer up, mate!
You will when you get visited by three ghosts and worry next morning about wether Tiny Tim will live.[b said:Quote[/b] (steveh1510 @ Nov. 25 2004,11:50)]But truth be told if they abolished Christmas next year, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

BAH HUMBUG!
If you two feel like that I suggest you get together and go a do some charity work on Xmas day, that way you can rid yourselves of this hypocrisy and show what upright citizens you are by giving a little to less priviledged than yourselves instead of just moaning about it. After all why would you want to sit in and be miserable eating food, drinking alcohol with your nearest and dearest. I am sure there is a childrens home or homeless shelter that would be willing for you to take on some chores for them.[b said:Quote[/b] (Ron Manager @ Nov. 25 2004,11:53)]Ah, a true kindred spirit! I send a cheque to charity every christmas instead of spending money on christmas cards that just get binned mid-January.[b said:Quote[/b] (Bob Cratchitt @ Nov. 25 2004,12:51)]If you two feel like that I suggest you get together and go a do some charity work on Xmas day, that way you can rid yourselves of this hypocrisy and show waht upright citizens you are by giving a little to less priviledged than yourselves instead of just moaning about it. Agree with all the above.[b said:Quote[/b] (Ron Manager @ Nov. 25 2004,13:16)]Firstly, it holds no significance to me as a religious holiday. I do however enjoy Christmas Day as an excuse for time off work to spend with family (they're not a bad bunch overall) and drink and eat a little too much. I also enjoy Christmas Eve, it's always a nice atmosphere in a warm pub with people relaxed and happy and generally being nice to each other. Boxing Day football is also a fine tradition that is all part of the Christmas experience for me.
However, the fact that Christmas TV adverts have been on heavy loop for a month now, the fact that Christmas decorations are now everywhere and it's still November, the fact that families will spend more than they can afford and put themselves in debt to keep up with the whole commercial expectation of Christmas - all these things and more mean I am rather cynical about the whole time of year. In all seriousness I don't hate Christmas but there is a lot about it I don't like.

I need to start using Smilies more often, but then i would not be able to go fishing as much.[b said:Quote[/b] (Ron Manager @ Nov. 25 2004,13:16)]Here we go again, a flippant and jokey comment about not liking Christmas gets me grief. I really should have kept quiet this year.
Where do you go to get confirmed, is it a small section of Hockley Woods??[b said:Quote[/b] (Ron Manager @ Nov. 25 2004,13:16)]Firstly, as a non-christian (confirmed atheist) it holds no significance to me as a religious holiday.
