This all reminds me, im thankful for Breweries and brewers.

I don't, I go along with it, get everyone presents and make happy noises when I open mine, have a laugh and a drink with friends and generally at least try to get in the spirit.

But truth be told if they abolished Christmas next year, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Cheer up, mate!
I'm cheerful, just don't like Christmas much, the falseness and hyopocricy of it just bores me and to be honest, I don't need an excuse like a religious festival to get ****ed and eat too much.

Ah, a true kindred spirit! Although will probably not be quite so vocal with my anti-Christmas views on here this year as last December I got a fair bit of stick!

However -

You will when you get visited by three ghosts and worry next morning about wether Tiny Tim will live.

Not really.

If you two feel like that I suggest you get together and go a do some charity work on Xmas day, that way you can rid yourselves of this hypocrisy and show what upright citizens you are by giving a little to less priviledged than yourselves instead of just moaning about it. After all why would you want to sit in and be miserable eating food, drinking alcohol with your nearest and dearest. I am sure there is a childrens home or homeless shelter that would be willing for you to take on some chores for them.

I send a cheque to charity every christmas instead of spending money on christmas cards that just get binned mid-January.

So this year £50 will be on its way to Cancer Research, as that's a charity that I regularly support (fundraising runs/donations etc).

Steve if that is the case i will match your contribution, Ron you joining us??
After all Steve you might need their help if you keep on puffing away.

That is the case, as it is every year.

Just don't expect a Christmas card from me

Not had one since Sunday, hopefully this is it again, as I'm actually feeling really good about it this time.

Here we go again, a flippant and jokey comment about not liking Christmas gets me grief. I really should have kept quiet this year.

Firstly, as a non-christian (confirmed atheist) it holds no significance to me as a religious holiday. I do however enjoy Christmas Day as an excuse for time off work to spend with family (they're not a bad bunch overall) and drink and eat a little too much. I also enjoy Christmas Eve, it's always a nice atmosphere in a warm pub with people relaxed and happy and generally being nice to each other. Boxing Day football is also a fine tradition that is all part of the Christmas experience for me.

However, the fact that Christmas TV adverts have been on heavy loop for a month now, the fact that Christmas decorations are now everywhere and it's still November, the fact that families will spend more than they can afford and put themselves in debt to keep up with the whole commercial expectation of Christmas - all these things and more mean I am rather cynical about the whole time of year. In all seriousness I don't hate Christmas but there is a lot about it I don't like. That, and I promise this, is the last I will say on the matter on here this year.

With regard to a charitable donation to Cancer Research, I can assure you that is a charity which I do support as much as I'm able - like most people who do so, for very personal reasons relating to love ones lost to the disease.

But with no chrimbo what would we do without Escape to Victory and the Great Escape !

That's one of the worst thigns about xmas. Feck all to watch. The films are crap, the only good things are usually Morecombe and Wise and the 2 Ronnies.

And I wished they'd stop showing fecking Zulu every year......

Agree with all the above.

Same here, and I therefore also do as much as possible to help them.

Gotta agree about the x-mas crap bit. I wouldn't class myself as a family person and x-mas usually means far flung relatives coming round going "haven't you grown" blah etc...

The adverts are also f**king annoying as well as the sh*tty post ...
