Hangover cures

Cant believe no-ones mentioned MacDonalds yet.

Quarter pounder with cheese meal will sort you right out fella me lad. Its a proven cure.

I've been told by several people to stear well clear of painkillers... They just give more chemicals for your digestive system to deal with and you'll feel even worse.

Before you go to bed, Pint of water with a spoon full of sugar and salt stirred in, when you get up a banana and then later on a decent meal.

Good shout on the banana. Never had a problem myself with taking nurofen, sparkling water is actually also quite good the next day.

Its simple really, don't stop drinking. Ever.

Can't say I've ever needed a hangover cure as I'm one of the lucky few who doesnt seem to get them!

For some strange reason I only get them when I drink nothing but beer.

Get such a dry mouth and a throbbing headache. Im ok when its spirits or cider.

Drink! Drink! Drink!

So you veto painkillers, yet advise drinking water + salt! Great, lets dehydrate some more while we're at it!

Walking home in the snow and -12 before going to bed seems to have worked for me!! Although as I've only just woken up things could get worse...

Alcohol dehydrates the body, reducing the levels of VITAL salts and sugars in your system which bring on the symptoms of dehydration, Nausea, Headaches etc.. Which is essentially all a hangover is, mild dehydration.

By drinking Water with Salts and Sugars, you're replacing what you've lost which will reduce the symptoms you'll feel in the morning.

I'm not talking about going to the f*cking beach and filling up your cup, I'm saying a teaspoon full of salt and a teaspoon full of sugar mixed into a Pint of water.

A lot of people say Irn Brew does the trick. Personally can't stand the stuff but that's what I have been told.

I was told this myth about Irn Brew when I moved to Scotland but never gave it a go until about 18 months ago.....and was totally shocked at how spot on this myth is. I felt superb with in about 15 mins, so drank another can and it was like I had never had a hangover in the first place

So in the words of the Mythbuster....

Confirmed!

agreed, either Irn Brew or Lucozade

Any of the older poster find that the older you get the more delayed the hangover is the following day??

At 21, it was as soon as I woke up, but now at 40, I wake up feeling a bit groggy but not to bad, and then by 2pm I feel rough as old boots
