Hands up

Why don't you write to the club saying all kids should be in the family stand? After all you have to expect swearing from a mature(Yes I know it's Scott!) adult at a football match right, I mean, of course; that's why you are a fanatic right!?

Sod the kids!

I think you're right actually Dash, anyone sitting in the main stands at a football ground has to expect a certain amount of swearing, it's part and parcel of football. If there's an alternative area which is designated for families and children, such as we have, then there's really no excuse for such heavy handed stewarding.

It does sound a bit excessive but I think she is well within her rights to ask you to tone it down if the swearing is constant and gets overly abusive! I generally expect to hear swearing at a football game but not everyone does. It sounds like what happened to you was a bit over the top but maybe this is a reminder that people do take exception to swearing.

Creating an atmosphere doesn't have to be about swearing! It's about singing up for your team and supporting the players. 'You'll never walk alone' has to be the best example. In my opinion it's the greatest football song in the world and doesn't have a single swear word in it.

Also, not everyone wants to sit in the family stand - for one thing the view is awful lol!

Fair comment but I did apologise and try to sort the situation.

Yeah, exactly.

If you had not acknowledged her and continued swearing etc then I could have understand her but as you did apologise I can't see why you then got chucked out. It seems a strange decision as I am sure you weren't the only one in the ground swearing!

Jobbo got the hump with me! even though I had done nothing wrong, I just feel a target

I'll give you target you stupid great lump. I brought you a beer which never got drunk and got lumbered with Dagenham Kev. I'm going to give you such a kick in the shins when I see you.

I can't comment on the specific incident, but as a general rule it's wrong to assume that football grounds exist under some kind of bubble where laws on public order no longer apply. It's simply not practical for police or stewards to kick out everybody using a bit of foul language from time to time, and I'm not particularly upset by that, but I've seen plenty of occasions where people have obviously had too much to drink and come to the game intent on dishing out as much abuse as they can to any possible target. That's not acceptable anywhere.

Kicked off the Zone then kicked out of the ground , whatever next ? The Spread ? Hockley Spa ? Mum and Dad's house ? Sort it out sexy man.

You know it's 2008 when people get thrown out of football grounds for swearing.

Not quite sure what you mean by that but people have been ejected from grounds for swearing as long as I've been going to football games (1979).

I went to a match with my brother and dad to West Ham and I remember a few lads in the chicken run getting thrown out for chanting 'Brian Talbot is a w*****' Its definitely not a new phenomenon.
