It depends how you look at it, if a player wants to leave and sulks about it, the team morale can be seriously affected, the only thing clubs can do is play hard ball get the best fee they can and move on. All clubs get this situation from time to time for various reasons, but yes if GSM is happy to stay with you the club shouldn't accept the 1st offer. If we were to get less than a £100k for him, unless he really wants to leave then it's not really worth selling him.
The very minimum I'd take would be £75k. Considering Morton cost £25k and Crowther cost £35k. I think £75k-100k is fair for GSM.
Anyone know if we paid a fee for Gus?

He isn’t on a bad streak, that goalscoring form just isn’t sustainable for a right back. Which is why he isn’t worth 100k.Funny how beginning off the season when he was scoring for fun ,people didnt want to lose him but realised we would and fees off 100k upwards were being mentioned , now since hes on a bad streak people dont care if we lose him and fees off 25k ,50 k at most being mentioned .
Cardwell had a release fee written into his contract. The fact the club pushed for a £125k sale of Cardwell tells me that anything around £50k - £75k for Gus would be accepted
If a release clause is met (as it was) the club has no ability to push. The club could have said if they were offered £100k for example we aint accepting that and unless you pay the release clause you aint getting him but thats as far as it goes. The fact the club pushed for a £125k sale of Cardwell tells me that anything around £50k - £75k for Gus would be accepted
well i would like to think we can still by pass them on our way up.I wouldn’t be too bothered if he went, Wind is well capable of stepping up. However, I’m not sure moving to Carlisle is a very attractive proposition even if did mean a few more quid.
Also, I dare say they will be joint us next season.
The point I was poorly trying to make , the club wanted the release clause in cards latest deal. This wasn't an agents dealing. From what I heard, We practically put him in the market.Cardwell had a release fee written into his contract.

Cards never wanted to leave
Absolutely, categorically false. The point I was poorly trying to make , the club wanted the release clause in cards latest deal. This wasn't an agents dealing. From what I heard, We practically put him in the market.

All I know is that Cards looked so sad and emotional as he came back past the East at the end of the FGR game. Totally understand his decision as, allegedly, he is earning more than twice he was with us - football is a short career but I really don't think it was an easy one for him. I really wish he got given more minutes with FGR and was enjoying his time there but I don't think that looks like to be the case, would assume the release clause was hoped to be met by an EFL club to give him an upwards move. He looked a shadow of the player we knew. Not true.
The release clause was from Cards side of the table, that’s what got the pen on the paper.
Cards didn’t want to leave, he loved it here, but he didn’t want the club to stand in his way in the future.
