Greatest Blues Game

Mine was Southend 1-0 Bristol City purely because it was the first time I saw Southend win the title, the party atmosphere and the retirement of the Goat.
It was however closely rivalled by Southend 1-0 Man Utd and Chelsea 1-1 Southend
Canvey Island 2-3 Southend after going down to 10 men in a FA cup replay was good too
There were many more but I cant remember them all

I think this was done recently, but what the heck

Liverpool at Home
Newcastle at Home
West Ham
and the Brentwood and Kings Lynn Fa Cup games for the sheer volume of goals

Apart from the obvious Chelsea away and Man U games

December 2007, Huddersfield at home - trounced them 4-1 or something like that. Best trip over for a blues game ever...carnival atmosphere between 5 of us paddy's in the south upper :D

In terms of the game itself, it has to be beating Manure. For years I've hated them for being the embodiment of the takeover of football by corporations and the rise of the clueless, plastic "supporter". Ever since, I've found it enormously therapeutic to rewatch the game and savour the look on Taggart's face.

Being League One champions was a better experience as it was the culmination of a whole season's work, and the whole party atmosphere after the game and the following day at the parade were something else. As for the Bristol City game itself, to be honest I can't remember much other than the winner and the final whistle now.

Edit: Oh, and the Goat's substitution, which was also an awesome moment.

the way everyone just stopped and clapped when the board went up, one of the rare moments when every supporter from all 3 (inc. man city fans) clubs just stood up and applauded a legend of the game. On came Wayne Gray to score the winner

One I really, really enjoyed was our 6-1 thrashing of Oxford United back in the Barry Fry days.... corking game, Tommy Mooney hat trick including an overhead kick... plus some other cracking goals. An all round top day :)

We have had some truly memorable games through the years but as a one off it has to be beating Man Utd (and deservedly so i might add)

I was in the pub pre match fearing we'd get beat about 8-0, how wrong was i !!!

The 1st Derby FA cup game in the 5th Round with Archie Gemmell and Bruce Rioch in the Derby team was amazing, as was the FA cup game v Liverpool. I also remember a dim and distant game, I think, against Brighton where Peter Silvester scored all 4 goals to beat them 4-0.

Southend 1-0 York City in 2002. Barrington Belgrave got an injury time winner. I was in the South Lower with my lad who jumped on his seat and went mad. Going out the ground he said it was the best game he'd ever been to and asked if I could buy him a home shirt.

Despite all the other great occasions, results and so forth, I enjoyed that day more than anything else in the 31 years I've been going.

So many, top 10 in some order:

Lincoln playoff final
Bristol City at home
Col U away in LDV area final
Col U away in LDV 1st round following year
Man U
Chelsea away
QPR 5-0
QPR 4-0
Blackpool LDV
Chelsea home

In no paticular order,

Swindon at home, 3-2 to The Blues, Angell scoring a corker of a volley from outside the area. Duncan Shearer was playing for The Robins.

Newcastle at home on NYD when we went top for a few hours.

Blackburn at home when we won 3-0 on a cold bonfire night, this game was right before the Swindon game i mentioned earlier.

Derby away when Otto scored a wonder goal, we went 1-0 down, and we stood right next to the home fans. What an atmosphere. I thought the baseball ground was quite an intimidating place to go.

The Oxford 6-1 demolition at The Hall.

The Play Off final against Lincoln.

Man U at home.

Chelsea away.

West Ham at home when Angell scored.

Charlton away when we lost i think in the last minute, seem to remember there being goals galore that day.

Millwall away when it was their first league game at the new den.

The 5-3 demolition against Padova in the Anglo-Italian.

QPR at home in the LDV.

There are some more games as well, but these ones instantly came to mind.

Oh happy days!

Southend 4-4 Northampton in the FA Cup.

For sheer excitement and action, this was definately the one. Sat in the east stand but might as well have been in the north bank as i was up off the seat more than i was on it. Poured with rain all night but a truly memorable game of football.
