Ghosts - are you a believer?

Don't worry, lots of posters think they'll get the better of the argument if they point out the other poster doesn't spell correctly.

In the context of a discussion on immigration being a bad thing because of immigrants' poor grasp of English, I thought that was a very valid argument!

No our precption of their preocession within a predeifined crieta can be . There is no measureable force of time , and no (but of coure and effect ) defineable Graviton (last time i checked we got any cutting edge physicists on here ??)

But all criteria are pre-defined! And if we are using time as our tool, which it is, then we have every right to use our perception to measure it. Of course, time can be construed two ways, once as a physical entity through which matter flows, or secondly as a mental construct. I think you place too much emphasis on the second meaning.

Gravity - I was never good at physics, but as I understand it, gravity on the moon is weaker than the Earth. Hence, it can be measured.

Of gravity and time isn't that related to density which can "warp" time/gravity? not sure if that's a constant equation.

Perception of time is distorted (as is teh speed of light) in high gravitaion fields or extreme coldness (they used it to "disprove" Entstiens theory of Relativity i think ) Italitain scienetist (or maybe Koreans not sure where it was now )have the speed of light down to the speed of Sound !!

Pre-defined if you believe that there are universal truths or constance maybe . SUrly their more collective opinoins tested over time . Speed of light being a good exmple of no longer being a universal constant ?

I accpet both im not of the opiono one soley affects the other. Its just its very hard to percieve the affects both occuring at once.

A quick on on Kethera , while he may represent this , Thoth is supposed to have created all knowledge etc and is the onle "self" made enity of their pathanon (earlist form of Hermes , the Odin etc )

And back to ghosts. God's spirits etc generaly ghost by a nother name , Occulitst's will generaly just refer to them all as spirits , now even the most experince ones couldnt tell you if they life in your head or outside ;)

I voted No. Personally I think it is a load of old rubbish. However, despite this last summer I went on holiday with the family to the New Forest where we stayed in a cottage. As soon as I got there I felt decidely uneasy about the bedroom my wife and I were to sleep in, as well as the living room and the hallway that connected the two. The rest of the house was fine.

Anyway that night I did not sleep a wink and felt intermittenly cold. I decided not to say anything to my wife as I did not want to spook her (not a DtS term for sex). Anyway the following morning my wife mentioned that the room gave her the creeps. This sent a shudder down my spine, and I had to tell her how I felt. She said that she had visions of a bearded blond man and a dog in the room. For the rest of the week we both, more or less, layed awake all night waiting for the dawn, when we could relax.

Before we left we signed the visitors book and I noticed that one of the previous occupants had put in it "We had a great, if strange week (you know what we mean Richard and Janet (the owners))"

Around Christmas time we were talking about our experiences with some friends, and my little boy who was 4 at the time broke into the converstaion and said "and there was the man in the ceiling!".

Anyway, I still think it's a load of old balls.

i went to an old cottage in the new forrest and i also felt very uneasy, every night a merc was parked out with its lights off. scared the ****e out of me. i was only about ten at the time!

I remember a program where two scientists felt "uneasy" in their lab but found an old heating fan that was oscillating very slowly that created an frequency below the audible hearing level (20 hz). As soon as that was switched off, the uneasy feeling disapeared.....

Ok, here's a possibile answer to that.

When we see what we take to be a ghost, we're not seeing a physical object. The ghost part we see doesn't, in my opinion, physically exist. However, what is happening is our mind is receiving a signal through a medium other than sight, and, not knowing quite how to translate this to our concious, shows us this as a physical image.

Now, IF this is true, then it's not unreasonable to hypothosise that this is some from of telepathy from whatever consciousness is left over by the ex person (whether in an intelligent form, or as a mere mental image). This leads us to the idea that we're seeing not what existed, but what was perceived by the ex person's thoughts. This therefore would mean that as a person perceives themselves as being dressed, we're likely to receive that image, and "see" clothes. Likewise if a "ghost" picks up and interracts with an object, we'll see it, yet if the spectre puts it down and ignores it, we'll no longer perceive it ourselves.

All theory of course ;)

ROFL i wish , if i was that precise id have 6 numbers come up every week and you want me to pick out at least 14 inidividual futures in one go ;) (T&B and Team ).
Honestly i could try , but its like looking for the top of a circle while standing in the middle .

Swansea , i like that theory (im sure its done teh rounds as well)and as the brain is a transciever it could have more merit . I know Sony created a range of "psychic" electronics toys that were pulled a few years back (pre PS2 i think)
