So, basically, realism is based on perception. Unfortunately, it is the only logic we are blessed with. Ergo, it isn't arrogance, just nature. And to conclude as you have that there is no reason why they cant be in there as well, is too simple a hypothesis. Otherwise, there's no reason, why in another dimension, elephants can't speak French. Human logic, is pretty rational and is based on thousands of years of evolutionary psychology and philosophy. There are some things that can't be explained, true, but these will be, eventually...

:)
Well Realism is a relativly young form of philosophy (or did you mean human rational :) )And your just using logic to prove the exisitence of logic (thats not very subjective is it :P )
Never heard of Occams razor , simplisity is a marvolous thing

Sorry Nap's its one of those Contencious "transliterations" Wiki is never the greatest source for it (your a linquist by training if i recall as well ??)
Plus the french opinon of arabs at the time of their first archological digs ;)
These are his "Published" books , i should have put works and writings.

Re ghost's whose to say their not , maybe their photonic construsts with liittle or no mass ;) Argon gas is a good example , millions of "what ever unit its measured in" but bugged if you can detect it , or how about Carbon monoxide.
Also assuming their in some way energy constructs (ok everything is )could "their" not insome way be transmuted ?

I'll accept contentious from people who can spell the damn word!

Works and writings, maybe, but I'd like to see some evidence. Alchemy was massively popular in those days, anyway, don't know what it proves!

There's ways of making compounds more measurable, but nothing for ghosts, apart from a radiation thingy, but even that, scans for radiation, not ghosts.

If they are energy forms, why is there not more evidence?

Course I've heard of Occams Razor, in fact I replied to you once using it. Ghosts can't be seen, therefore don't exist. How's that?

:)

OK, I've checked more sources. Unfortunately, it's a difficult one to call. However, a writing in about 300 CE in Greek, speaks against "the ancient writings of the Egyptians, which treat of the khēmia [transmutation] of gold and silver"

I would argue that the word khemia, comes from pouring and not Egypt (the black land), purely because of the Greek evidence above

But the problem with etymology is no-one's really sure. You can trace the word back but not the meaning.

Yes i agree , well proably same reason we cant define waht "dark matter" is , we just havent defined what we are looking for (hey no fair i dont have a spell checker :P ) . Mind you the same is true for Gravetey or Time yet who doubts them .

I'm still hoping that we can prove that what goes up doesn't have to come back down.

Ah, but gravity and time can be measured!

:thump:

Yes i agree ,, and the sources ive read refer it more to the egyptian time (again that Egyptian civilization and PRE Athean greek were propably regular visitors propably huge amounts of over lap )

Yes Alchemy or its study was popular in Newtons time , but only to the intellectual and or/the rich. It only sites that it was a "science" of esotersitism. The Gold and silver points you mention propably also refer to Kethra the scarab egpytian deity.l

Stastictis , your cant site them as any more reliable then reoccuing opinons :P Lies damn lies and :P

Don't worry, lots of posters think they'll get the better of the argument if they point out the other poster doesn't spell correctly.

Nah, I think it's a cracking argument, full respect to Osy. I just don't like it when the discussion is specifically about language and the spelling is wrong.

No our precption of their preocession within a predeifined crieta can be . There is no measureable force of time , and no (but of coure and effect ) defineable Graviton (last time i checked we got any cutting edge physicists on here ??)

Good call about Kethra, that's a new one to me.

Statistics can be made to prove anything...eventually.

Fair Play.

Of gravity and time isn't that related to density which can "warp" time/gravity? not sure if that's a constant equation.

what's this and alchemy got to do with ghosts though? :minger:
