Haye - Bellew has actually been made :hilarious:

March 4th, O2 Arena, on Sky Box Office :hilarious::hilarious:

at Heavyweight!!! :hilarious::hilarious: :hilarious:

Few thoughts....

1) Haye absolutely wrecks Bellew, in a totally one-sided fight. I see a brutal KO finish coming here. Haye can end it when he wants

2) PPV? Jesus Christ. Boxing fans being robbed again

3) I can see it actually makes sense for both fighters, Bellew will get his retirement fund & Haye steps closer to AJ.

4) the inevitable build-up programmes (Press Conferences, Gloves Are Off etc) will probably be quite entertaining, as long as you can see through all the "genuine hatred/rivalry/bad blood" waffle.

I don't know why they keep doing these mismatches! Why can't fighters just stick to their natural weights and fight the best in those divisions? The good thing is it's at least a better fight than Haye's previous two and like you say gives him a step closer to Joshua. It's not a PPV fight unless they litter the undercard with some pretty decent bouts. I will try and get tickets as I have done to most of the recent fights and a Matchroom night at the o2 is always good fun.

Simple answer is because they know they can make a mint. It won't be a crossover fight, but it's easily marketable & with a few risqué build-up shows, they'll do enough sales to consider it a good bit of business. I've heard from someone ITK, that each of them are copping £3m for it.

And Matchroom are becoming famous for this type of fight. Total mismatch, but the hype (and therefore interest) is easily built. In recent memory, we've had;

Joshua - Martin
Joshua - Brezeale
Joshua - Molina
Haye - Bellew
Golovkin - Brook

Not one of those a close fight, which should be the only real reason PPV is utilised.

People saying Haye ducked Briggs ffs :hilarious:

The Bellew fight is an easier option for Haye than Briggs. Both are quite big money spinners but for the ease of the fight (obviously Haye will win both) Bellew will be the easier option. You could see in Bellew's last fight against Flores and Makabu he is poor defensively and if he lets a Haye punch land flush which is very possible with his poor guarding it will be goodnight Vienna in the early rounds.

I would love to see Haye lose and my heart says it's going to happen. But having seen Haye in both his comeback fights (not a lot to go on) and seeing Bellew's last two I see nothing but a Haye knockout.

Does Bellew care? Probably not? He's a world champ at Cruiserweight and win or lose he keeps that belt and can fight again at cruiser. Or he can retire and sit on the money he will have earnt from this.

Haye on the other hand has everything to lose. He hasn't done himself any favours by fighting to quote Bellew local bouncers, so if he were to lose to someone who has fought at light heavy and cruiser moving up to heavy would be hugely damanging. It won't happen but if he wins early and by devastating knock out he sets himself up some decent prospects. He could fight Parker, Wilder, Ortiz, Joshua and maybe even a Klitschko rematch. It opens the right doors I think people would've given him more credit if he fought and beat Briggs as he is heavyweight and had done everything Haye asked of him. I understand it's a contract issue on someone's part, most likely Briggs asking silly demands and high money so he can get on his social media high horse and say Haye ducked him.

Hearn has got to pull the undercard out of the bag, he has some good fighters in his stable and some good world champs. So he will have to get some exciting fights for it to justify the £15.99.

Definitely. However, I'd say the main factor is that Haye will earn £3m against Bellew, whereas he simply wouldn't earn nowhere near that against Briggs.

Im not a Haye fan, which I might have mentioned before :winking:, but when it comes to Bellew, I'll back his opponent every time, regardless who it is.

Exactly, nail on the head. He's got his retirement fund sorted.

Haye's not daft. During the negotiations for this fight, he'd have probably demanded & got, a guarentee he'll get a crack at AJ next summer.

I worry (not really) for Bellew. He's a sitting duck at the best of times. he got hurt bad by Stevenson, but this could be much worse. Bellew's glass jaw might come in at a fleshy, wobbly 200lbs, whereas Haye will likely come in weighing around 220lbs of pure muscle, and very capable of serious damage. I only see one outcome. Haye via murder :hilarious:

Ideal undercard would be Groves Vs Callum Smith and/or (preferably and) Linares vs Crolla. That being said, I'm fully expecting the usual drivel. Connor Benn in against a Bulgarian taxi driver, Eubank shadow boxing for 12 rounds & Scott Quigg in a Final eliminator VS a speak & spell.

Another win for Lomenchenko after making Walters quit. That guy is impressive, Bob Arum says he wants Salido II, Terry Flanagan and then Pacqiaou all in 2017. He has an exciting time ahead of him and I look forward to him coming to the UK to fight Flanagan.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Haye vs Bellew press conference. If the fight was who had the best mouth Bellew wins hands down. I love listening to him gob off he does it very well and he really knows how to wind up Haye.

Tried to get tickets but unfortaunely couldn't as I was working both days the sales went on and I never manage to get tickets when trying on my phone. I'm certainly not paying StubHub prices!!

Enjoyed Lomachenko, he and Usyk are two of my favourite fighters to watch at the moment; and whilst no-one likes to see a boxer take unnecessary damage, to see Walters quit like that was so poor.

If this fight does nothing else, it's bringing to light the massive problem with fans trying to get fight tickets. The number of massively inflated tickets on resale sites, just minutes and hours after they went on sale. It's disgusting and the more it's highlighted, the sooner ticket companies will get taken to task, it's bad enough they get away with huge fees in the first place, but now they double up on fees through thousands of tickets on sister re-sale sites. Stub-hub being an official sponsor compounds the issue - it's all but accepted that they get a batch of tickets before they go on sale anyway.

I agree Lomachenko is a great fighter and exciting to watch. It's also good that they want to get him doing more than 2 fights a year. He has to fight Salido next and close that book or open it up for a 3rd fight later on. I've watched Walters a couple of times and was quite shocked he quit like that. I assume he saw the inevitable coming and his corner advised him it was the right thing to do.

On a more ridiculous note that gobby ginger Irish prick McGregor has got himself a boxing licence. On the plus side it will be great to watch him getting knocked out over and over again. He will get put into hospital if he thinks he can walk in the ring with Canelo and it will be a 50th and first in a while by KO from Mayweather. He would get destroyed against someone like Conor Benn in a boxing ring.

That should surely have already been brought to the attention of the world with Joshua's fights. The fact that 10 minutes after his fights sell out he advertises on social media that you can get tickets on StubHub just makes it a complete joke.

It's Eddie Hearn and he shouldn't be able to work so closely with StubHub.

Matchroom becomes more like WWE every day :hilarious:

Anyone who believes this "hatred" between Haye & Bellew is genuine, should look away now....

The pair have been close mates in the past. Bellew once even crediting Haye as one of his inspirations. And they've been sparring partners for years. Bottom line, this is an excellent career move for both. Haye puts his name in the AJ frame, and Bellew earns his retirement fund. Nothing more, nothing less.

Personally I can't stand Bellew. Normally I'm all for the brash, loud-mouthed manner, that some boxers adopt. However Bellew genuinely riles me. His Schtick is tame & repetitive. The Cleverly fights, Stevenson, and now Haye, have all been "grudge" matches, "bad blood" matches, "these two genuinely don't like each other" matches. And it's always bollocks.

The one thing I am intrigued for, is Bellew's trash talk Vs Haye. Again, despite his obvious love for it, I think Bellew is weak at it, whereas prime Haye could slay just about anyone. I thought he won the verbal war the other day, and even had enough in the tank to bury Hearn, which is always nice to see. And lulz at Bellew, just after the scuffle, he was almost in tears telling everyone around him, "I carnt beeleeeeev et, eeee tlyed tu ponch meee. I carnt beeleeeev it", only for moments later to be screaming at Haye "weeeee're on the street now" :hilarious: Make you're mind up you flop, one minute trying to be the playground grass, the next trying to be the playground tough guy.

But again, I must state clearly.... About 5% of what you're seeing is genuine

Lols at Paulie Malignaggi calling out Connor McGregor now. Let's be honest, Paulie is well past it, and should focus solely on his punditry work (which IMO, he's exceptional at). That being said, he'd box circles around McGregor & win every round quite comfortably

I hear McGregor is targeting a lot of Mayweathers previous opponents for his joke of a boxing match.

Let's have a look back:
Berto - He beats McGregor easily.
Pacquiao - LOL! Wouldn't entertain it and would knock him out plain and simple.
Maidana - beats McGregor and easily.
Canelo - We saw what he did to Liam Smith and the brutal KO of Khan he would probably put him in a coma.
Guerrero - beats McGregor
Cotto - destroys McGregor
Ortiz - beats McGregor
Molesley - even at the age of 45 beats McGregor and easily!

There's a trend here! This absolute joke needs to end and it has to be by someone like Malignaggi.

Watched the BJS fight on Saturday against Akavov. Not his best display and he looked very rusty. He was very close to losing that as well. I think being the home fighter and on a Frank Warren promoted fight probably helped his case. He could do with a couple more warm up fights before he starts calling our GGG and Canelo. Or even entertaining a rematch with the complete tool who is Chris Eubank Jr and his dad.

Everyone is doing there bit to make this weekends fights interesting. Chisora has just launched a table at Whyte during the press conference.

Just seen that it all kicked off on the gloves are off too. It's the most exciting fight of the whole card in my opinion.

Makes you think with the stuff going on in UFC also are they both turning into WWE? A lot of it seems staged at times. The majority of these happen on a Matchroom lead promotion too.

It's either ridiculously staged and acted out or Chisora is bi-polar on another level!

I didn't see the fight, but I heard BJS was awful, and his win was a robbery. That's what you get for a mixture of inactivity & fighting bums. Personaly I think Eubank beats him in a rematch
