Boxing is so corrupt the world over, so many incorrect outcomes everywhere including Australia (BRISBANE ) the main offender there.

Boxing has been carrying a degree of corruptness for decades, which evident back in the days of good ‘ol Don King. and his machinations. The points scoring system is long overdue greater consistency through all the various boxing organisations now operating and hence still open to a judges ‘interpretation’ (or bias).

Too much money involved these days though imo the quality of boxer is not as good as once it was and when a world champion was literally just that, the ultimate champion at his weight and not just one of several holders of a ‘world‘ title.

Anyone recall when the BBC used to broadcast ABA bouts midweek on Sportsnight?

Absolute belter of a fight last night between Wood and Conlon. Could have early contenders for fight and KO of the year.

Leigh Wood really is defying the critics! Love a story like his.

One of the best fights I think I have ever seen - right up there with benn McClellan (pleased the outcome wasn’t the same!).
Really like wood and not so much conlan so that gave it an edge for me!
If I was wood though I wouldn’t run this back?

No absolutely not! I’m not a fan of rematches and constantly having the clause inserted into contract. I don’t want to see Joshua get beaten up for another 12 rounds. However, I would 100% watch that rematch.

I don’t want that next for Wood. He deserves his shot at a genuine world title! Hopefully he will fight the winner of Warrington v Martinez. Then win or lose he fights Conlon again.

Really gutted for McKinson, was looking forward to that fight too (I know he had little chance but you never know in boxing!). Ortiz pulled out after being diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis. Never heard of it but looks like it might be related to the excessive toll a boxer puts on their bodies trying to make weight (that or PEDs!)...

Shame that Conor Benn had his fight already arranged with another fighter at the end of his career. Otherwise Benn v McKinson would be an absolute cracker of a match up.

Wish Ortiz a speedy recovery, one of the biggest prospects within the division.

Daniel Kinahan hey! Lot of people have gone quiet on boxing Twitter.

Thing is, the Kinahan family have been well known for a long LONG time.

Until the yanks got involved, everyone was willing to turn a blind eye.

Jono Carroll’s defence of the man has been criminal.

I’ve been trying to make a case for Whyte winning tonight. It’s no secret I’m a Fury fan boy, but I’ll be as impartial as I can.

Can he outbox him? No. Next.

Let’s look at the notion of him winning via stoppage. You have to go back 6/7 years to see him as a prolific KO artist, and even then these wins came against stepping stones. His only note worthy stoppages in recent times have come against Povetkin and Chisora.

Both of these guys, whilst respected as tough men, are cut from the same mould. Both flat footed, heavy legged and offer little in the way of movement. Neither of them have a deep gas tank. Both are also similar in height and reach (6”2 and 75”/6”1 74”) which is slightly smaller than Whyte’s 6”4 and 78” reach.

Whyte also benefitted from sharing a ring with both, previously. These experiences gave him time to learn and impose his own style in the rematches.

Fury is a different kettle of fish. 6”9 and a reach of 85”. We know all about his movement and his tank never seems to drop below a quarter. He’s also a thinker. He’s able to adapt and change his game plan, whereas I don’t think Whyte has that capability.

Fury’s major weakness is also his greatest strength. His size will always simultaneously work for and against him. In one moment he could be dancing around trying to lay a trap, and in the blink of an eye, (or the drop of an opponents shoulder), he finds himself square on or off balance, which leaves him dangerously vulnerable. We’ve seen it happen several times over his career.

Can Whyte pull him off balance?

It’s HW boxing of course, so anything can happen. But It’s hard to see how Whyte gets on the inside or even close enough to Fury, to start letting his hands go. He won’t fancy getting into to many clinches, as this plays perfectly into Fury’s tactics. But has Whyte got the stamina to avoid these clinches often enough?

Logic dictates that this is a by-the-book win for Fury via late stoppage or UD.

BUT, because of that, I do wonder if we’re going to see a more complacent side of Fury tonight. If he starts sloppy, Whyte can win.

I'm looking forward to enjoying this one as it's one of the rare occasions where I dint mind who wins because I like both fighters, although your very good summary confirms my thoughts that Fury should have no troubles.
What are peoples thoughts on this being Fury's last fight? Do you believe him?

Not sure what my bet will be? Might have to combine with the undercard fights if anyone wants to help me out? ?

He’s been saying it’s his last fight for a good few years now, so I wouldn’t read too much into it.

As for the undercard, I have no idea ?‍♂️ It’s worse than terrible.

How annoying. They pay a Boxing expert to give an opinion on the radio today. Who will win the big fight tonight? was the question. I think Tyson should win, but I'm not ruling out Whyte. Was the answer. Oh dear, why bother with these fence sitters and cover both sides merchants. They could have payed me nothing and I would answer in a flash, Tyson Fury will win the fight.

That’s why they’ve got David Haye on the BT Sport panel. Fury could be fighting one of us and he’d still have us down as the winner.
