Fredieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Thanks alot Freddy!?!
In my rush to get to the Swansea game for your 7 second debut goal I collected my own 3 points via Essex Constabulary!
Wishing you, and yours, all the best for the future.
Thanks for the memories,
Stuart

I used to wonder why Southend United couldn't have one of those really good strikers other teams always seemed to have... Then you came along and within 7.7 seconds my dreams came true... and then some! So many good memories Freddy - the sort that I will be able to tell my children about in future days.

You deserve your shot at the big time and I wish you all the best in your career. You'll always be welcome back.

Safe road and God bless Freddy! All of Southend salutes you.

Ladies and gentlemen... Freddy has left the building...

Wolves fan here. Just read this thread and i'm starting to realise just what a player we have signed. Eastwood to you was like Steve Bull was to us. Bully was god and still is to this day. We would get an extra 5k turn up in the old 3rd and 4th division just to watch him play. We have never replaced Bully, lets hope we have now. Good luck next season.

I can see what you mean. Freddy is kind of like that here, although, I admit, not at the level of Steve Bull as Freddy hasn't been here long enough. I wish Freddy had Bull's loyalty, but I can't begrudge him his big move! Bet yeah, I have friends, and have overheard people, who talk about or mention Freddy Eastwood's name when they have no interest in or clue about Southend United, what league they are in and how they are doing. He was becoming very well known in the town outside the realms of football fans.

I'm pleased with your second sentence. It'll be a while before you see him play obviously, but this guy is talented and you will soon see this. Yes he was a bit lazy last season, but he played in a cr@p side with no service and no particularly creative midfielders. In a bigger side with Prem prospects, and getting great service from your quality midfielders, I wouldn't be surprised if he smashed in 25. And you will be amazed and delighted at the range of goals. Low, bobbling snapshots from 5 yards, rising curlers from 30 yards and cheeky poacher tap-ins from 2 yards. Obviously, as I said, he'll need good service - what striker doesn't? But occasionally, he'll just produce this piece of magic where he'll run with the ball at his feet, weave past 4 defenders and slot it in with an individually crafted chance. I'll miss him! You've got a peach of a player on your hands.

I'm personally going to say farewell / good luck to Freddy (no hard feelings etc) next saturday in a pre-season friendly at The Rec, Bridge Road, Grays:

Grays Athletic V Wolves, Saturday 14th July

On the Grays website they have billed the following:

....... The game will see the return of both Freddy Eastwood & Michael Kightly to the New Recreation Ground.

Tickets for the game are priced at:
Adult: £10
Child/Cons/Student: £5

I know we have the pre-season at Witham Town that day, but what the hell it is not the end of the world to miss the odd friendly in order to say thanks to a legend and also hopefully see him have a good run out.

It would be nice if some other Shrimpers did the same as I'll feel a bit vulnerable amongst the Grays and Wolves supporters (all 10 of them!)

Good luck Fred, you have lit up the hall these last three years. So many great memories.
You deserve your shot at the big time and I will continue to follow your career with great pride remembering your time with us.

Cheers
Gerard.
