Freddie Ladapo

When he was with us he was terrible with 0 goals in 10 games. But to be fair he took off after us, scoring 18 in 45 games for Plymouth, 34 in 104 for Rotherham, and 19 in 63 for Ipswich.

He wasn’t terrible - I thought he was very impressive as a targetman.

A lot of fans seem to struggle with the targetman role. We’ve seen the likes of Freddie Ladapo, Emile Acquah and Matt Harrold get lambasted by fans whilst some even thought Drewe Broughton was good.

Nah, stand by my comment…..journeyman forward who’s been at a load of clubs (wonder why) and I’ve seen him play at a lot of ‘em….

Since leaving us this is only his 5th club, 2 of which he struggled with only once he helped get them promoted into the Championship (and he definitely did help, he was top scorer for Rotherham's promotion season and second top scorer for Ipswich's) but found the championship was a bridge too far. It's not like he lost this place because he'd bought the club down, he lost his place because the club was successful and he couldn't step up.

I was no fan of him when he was with us but the stats speak for themselves, he's kicked on since then and is an established League 1 striker.

He was at about a dozen other clubs on and off before coming here, his only notable stay being Margate….and I still don’t rate him.
