Francis Laurent

Second week running he was amazing at times. Time and time agai he beat his man and was a joy to behold. I dont think his end product is there though so personally I dont feel to worried about losing him. He is also either very injury prone or a total pansy as he hobbles off every week.

Still got to say he is really winning this floating voter over.

We really should give him a go upfront, can see him and Lee tearing defences up. The class of Laurent and the hard working ethic of Barney.

you say no end product he layed on two sitters for barney and scored not too shabby i reckon, he needs a bit of serious strength and fitness work imo

he has played up front many times, he is much better on the wing

Yes, I agree, his style of play doesn't work well in a conventional centre forward type role, but the space on the wing gives him the opportunity to show his trickery and skills. He gets kicked all over the place by oppo players because they simply don't know any other way to deal with him, that's why he gets injured so much.

Think Laurant was the best player on the pitch yesterday, by miles. As soon as he arrived he looked impressive, definately agree that he is better on the wing. Shame both him and Scannell are competing for the same position, because they both ran rings round hartlepool's defence yesterday. Just hope Franny recovers in time for the next game.

Laurent was unplayable at times on Saturday.

He is a joke. Everytime he picks the ball up you expect something to happen and 9/10 it does. He has outrageous skill, fantastic pace, and is developing an end product to his game as well.

Wish he would chip in with a few more goals though, but I'm so much more positive of a result with Laurent in the starting XI than I am without him.

People are rightly worried about Barnard leaving in January, but Laurent is equally important in my eyes.

Thought Laurent was outstanding yesterday. Concerned when he got injured as we heard his initial cry of pain in V block. Only thing he needs to work on is his final pass, which several times was too fast/hard.

such a quality player! really hope he stays with us because there's no doubt that there will be clubs looking at him. he's certainly the player with the most creativity in our team he's so good! :)

Just like last week Laurent was magnificent today, on this form I'd be seriously worried we could lose him soon. Given that he is by far the most creative player we have in what is mainly a "workmanlike" team I'd say he's vital. Outrageous skill and pace with good vision and decent delivery too - he's brilliant to watch and skinned half their team a couple of times today before he was kicked out of the game.

We all know that Championship sides are almost certainly watching Barney at the moment and I'm sure their scouts would have to be blind not to notice Laurent's performances. Is he out of contract at the end of the season or is he (hopefully!) on a longer term deal here? He's already said he loves it here and obviously there's the "French Connection" too but if he carries on the way he is I reckon we'll be lucky if we can keep him past this season.

I remember a couple of weeks ago he skinned some other defender who looked a bit annoyed. I doubt he heard me, but I did shout to this player, "Don't worry mate, he did worse to Ashley Cole last season!"

I agree and I am sure in the past that Laurent himself has said that he much prefers to play on the right wing.

He was simply outstanding on Saturday and I am sure at half time, Hartlepool were under orders to "take him out" in the second half.

My MOTM by a mile.

I'd keep Laurent on the wing, if he's up front he'll have limited service and his pace and trickery will be wasted up there.

His best when running at people so agreed, the wing is his best position.

If he can work on his delivery then I think it's bye bye Laurent.

Spot on. His final ball is his only real weakness in my opinion. Possibly his inability to threaten for the full 90 mins as well. But, he runs and runs and I'm not surprised he cannot perform like that for 90 mins.

If he could improve on that, he will have many, many scouts crowing about him.

The man is up there amongst the most skillful players, i've ever seen at the hall. Some of his touches are Bergkamp, Henry, Ronaldo, Zidane, Wanchope! - esque. Outrageous pieces of skill he pulls off at times and he makes it look so easy!

And this geezer wasn't good enough to earn a deal at Barnet. Do me a favour!

Allez Laurent.

To be fair he normally gets taken out of the game!

True enough. He is usually carrying several knocks by the 60 min mark. Which may explain why he is usually better in the 1st half than the 2nd.
