Ref Watch ... Franchise Friday

It takes some doing, but this ref was by far the worst yet! Spoilt the game, as in 2nd half, 50% of the players were scared to make a tackle.

Shocking!

Hmmmm.... well.....

His decisions, advantages were generally okish. But he was far, far too quick with the yellow cards. How on earth did he find 10 cautions in that game. And Macca wasn't one of them. The bookings for Barnard and Barrett were jokes. He didn't apply consistency - if he had Christophe would have gone in the first half. He just wanted to be in charge.

End result, what could have been a half decent game was spoiled because everyone knew that tackling or challenging would result in a card.

The man was a prat.

This is now the second time that i know of that this idiot has been a ref for us and not booked Macca, something is not right. This guy tonight is/was beyond explanation, during the whole game i saw 2 incidents that may have warrented a card. Towards the end, we were given a free kick for a foul, the ref actually said to the MK player who committed the foul "Have i booked you?" the MK player nodded, the ref waved him away. How do i know this? the woman that comes with me and my family to matches is deaf, she has been deaf all of her life, she is an excellant lip reader and the incident happened not 10 yards from us. OK so it was minutes from the end, maybe he didn't want to send someone of so close to the end, but after his utterly pathetic performance tonight i think he should have followed through and given a second yellow. OK on the night he has let someone off, but for the next team that play MK they have to play against a player who should not be there. Just like tonight we had to play against MK without a player who SHOULD have been there, Sean Morrison. UTB. Great result tonight, well done lads and well done Tilly & Brush.

Macca was lucky that the ref didn't spot him slap Baldock after the first bout of handbags. I actually thought he booked Baldock twice, but as he was throwing cards around like confetti it was hard to keep track.

So Andy, you are not very impressed with this guy then? I would say that we just don't need a bad ref at the moment, we have enough problems, but sadly this season and last we have had more than our fair share. Still i am sure someone will tell me that these bad decisions always balance themselves out. UTB.

I'd say tonight proved why I don't like the bloke, last minute penalty or not. ;)

On the basis that Franchise are probably a fair bit better than us, that is exactly what we do want. Something that can overturn form; a maverick decision here, a gratuitous sending off there - turn it into a lottery and we have a 50/50 chance.

Sorry mate i don't agree, at the moment the team need to know that they are doing well, they don't need some prat to come along and make bad (very bad) decisions. I do not agree that tonight "Franchise" were better than us, apparently we only had 48% of posession, but when we had it we looked good on it. The offside against Barney in the closing stages, where he put the ball in the net, was NOT offside, we won the game before the penalty, we didn't need any "gratuitous" sending offs or decisions, we were better than them. Sorry mate, but that is the way that i saw it. UTB.

And there was also the very dodgy decision when he didn't give the handball when the MK player lying on the ground a few minutes before the 90 were up. Ok so it was more ball to hand but it clearly hit his hand and it prevented us from getting possession. The ref must have seen it.

For the one he did give, it looked as first as though he wasn't convinced (he seemed to have something against Christophe all night) and we can thank the lino for that one.

We sit level with that, and almost everyone around us thought it was offside. Just shows how hard it is for the referee's.

On the whole I thought the ref had a good game decision wise, and got most of the free-kick's, throw's, corners correct. He just ruined it by the number of cards he dished out.

It all started with the challenge on JFC, that Macca took objection too. In my opinion this challenge was worthy of a straight red.

Don't think it was deliberate. "hitting his hand and preventing us getting possession" is not one of the criteria for a free-kick for handball.

Deadman's shocking display was everything I expected.

By far the worst decision (and there were plenty to choose from) was when he stopped play late in the game to give MK Dons a free-kick when they had two players breaking on the half way line against very limited defence. He then realised he'd already cautioned Christophe and didn't show the card he clearly intended.

An abject performance and, for once, I think overall we got the better of his dreadful decisions.

Mick, what about the thing with their player with the nose bleed, where he could clearly walk and get himself off the pitch but instead sank to the floor? What is the correct thing to do there? It looked completely farcical.

That was possibly the craziest 10 minutes or so of football I've seen, a free-kick every 30 seconds yellow cards all over the place! The ref lost control big time.

IMO, if he'd given a straight red for the 1st booking, then a lot of his problems wouldn't have happened, but he then started trying to even everything up. Handball probably wasn't a pen, but I've seen them given. Defo pen at the end, there had been a similar incident from a throw-in about 5 mins earlier that the lino missed, and JFC made sure the lino was watching out for it next time.

Haven't seen that many stewards surround a ref at the end of a game for quite a while....

Correct & luckily the ref didn't do what a lot of Prem refs do & send off players for slaps to the face, which Macca was guilty of. JFC should have walked too, but the ref bottled it!!

What a nice change to get those decisions for once!

A referee can't really take a chance; the player with the nose bleed could have felt faint. He didn't go down straightaway. Can't fault him for that especially as we scored in the time added on !!!
