Fossett's Farm

Just received a copy of a letter dated 30/6/08 from the Communities and Local Government dept which in my non legal and non planning laymans' view seems to suggest it's all systems go for the stadium, hotel, 67 flats the retail units, restaurant and the training pitches. Can the club please confirm.

I have spoken to the club and am waiting for baited breath for an official announcement. And Brad this is called a discussion board. I thought some fans might be interested that the most important decision in 50 years for the club just might be happening today. And that is not Flavs leaving.

I think you will hear something later today so patience chaps.:)

It's All Go for Fossetts

SOUTHEND United Football Club has finally been granted planning permission for its new stadium at Fossetts Farm.

If outstanding matters over a small area of land which is not owned by the club can be approved, the 22,000 seater stadium could be in use by 2010.

Why ask for the club to confirm if your posting it on here then??? If you want it confirming, then E-mail the club!

There still seems to be some doubt over this area of land - perhaps Ron will clarify when he posts an official statement

Taken for the letter dated 30th.June. 2008.

Formal Decision 16

Accordingly and for the reasons given above and in her letter of the 5th march 2008 the Secretary of state hereby agrees with the Inspector's conclusion and grants planning permission A in respect of your client's application to Southend on Sea BC for demolition of a night club and football training facilities ; erection of a 22,000 seater football stadium including a 114 bedroom hotel, conference floorspace, players hostel, food and drink concessions, bars and other ancillary facilities all contained within the stadium, erection of 67 flats with basement parking spaces, erection of A1 retail units totaling 16,400m2 floorspace of which at least 20 % shall be restricted to the range of comparison goods specifies in condition 7 attached to this consent, erection of a A3 restaurant comprising 279m2 floorspace, erection of a D2 health club totaling 3205ms floorspace lay out parking etc and vehicular access B the training pitches and surface car park for 454 cars.

It sounds like we just need to sort out the issue of the ransom strip, but I am sure some sort of arrangement will be reached. Any developer holding onto that piece of land is not going to get very far by holding the Club to ransom (literally!), given the limited alternative use.

Great news - first Franny signs and now the stadium gets the go ahead - Echo says in used by 2010 - perhaps a bit optimistic but that would be fantastic.

Brad i don't want to be rude but are you the full ticket?

Get in! 2 seasons at Roots Hall to enjoy, then off to our potential! Very exciting.

I hope this means that players will want to join us now, sign a 3 year deal and you'll be playing in a 22,000 seater!

Fantastic news for the future of the club. Well done to everyone at the club who's worked to get this done. Up The Blues!!!
