Forwards for Next Season

Got to let go the two strikers who are out of contract (Bonne and Waldron) to make room for fresh blood.
Said it at the time, Hopper should only ever have been a loan until the end of the season. If that wasn't acceptable to him, then we should have said no and picked up another championship/ prem loanee to see us through until the end of the season.
Kendall needs to improve his hold up play before I'm convinced he can play a part next season.
Walker - he has decent pace and can actually hold/ shield the ball well for someone of his size. However he lacks the football intelligence and finishing ability to play centrally. Would fare better in a 343 formation.

Callum Powell in 2021/22 23 and 24?

Bonne is the wileiest, has great movement, coaches the other forwards and his sh*thousery is top class.
His hold up play and pass to Gus yesterday for our goal was top drawer.

His goal ratio, like the rest of the strikers is lacking but his other attributes are enough for me to want him at the club next season.
Get him a full pre season and who knows what he could produce
Thinking the same here. Would lean more towards keeping Bonne than any of the others, just based on bringing others into play

It’s almost like we were restricted in some way from signing players

Excellent work and captures the whole sorry saga

I excluded Pepple in my workings to cover the current strike force but using your figures the current 5 come out the same as mine on 6 goals in 78 appearances, i.e, the ability for one of them to score on average every 13 matches ! Truly awful

All poor for various reasons - we should only of had one of Bonne or Hopper rather than both - both have experience and only need one.

Bonne - can't hit a barn door, decent ability and great experience - bin off

Hopper - he's got great experience but no lore than a 7 goal a season man - would of preferred us going for a younger target man in the Dalby mode rather than Tom Lead boots

DW - prob the best finisher of the lot, wasted in this team as we play very through balls and he would thrive on that. Injury record will do him hers

Kendal- pure harrier, unpopular opinion, but very similar player to Powell...except Powell did score more.

Walker - only one I'd keep, think I'd he could get some confidence he would be alright as a second striker

Doesn't matter who is retained or signed, the problems stem from lack of decent chances created and predictable tactics. We would be better discussing who of the coaching staff should be let go and replaced.

Im not sure that really fully works as the main issue . to be honest

Last season our forwards scored 30 goals mainly because of Cardwells 18, which is more than double our current 5 strikers on his own and we still had Taylor, Ralph, Husin, Bridge, Crowther, Morton, Demetriou, Miley and Coker playing for us in midfield and at the back

Shows the key value I think of at least one if not 2 good strikers

Bonne adds alot to the team aside from goals, imo we've missed him when he's not been playing. I'd offer another year

Waldron needs to go unfortunately, it's just not worked for him at this level, sadly.

Hopper ... You can argue he's scored the same as Bonne and played alot less games ... But I don't think he adds anything to the squad aside from being a target man , we can do better currently.

Kendall and walker, I like both and think they have a space in play off challenging team
