Football Manager 2009

Medway Blue

Trust chairman/glutton for punishment ⭐🦐
I hope that some of you FM fans will be watching out some time this evening for the 15-20 minute trailer, announcing some massive new features and, possibly, the release date!

I certainly will be. Can't wait.

Yup I will. Checked it earlier wanting the update but realised it's not til this evening. Should be interesting.

SI YouTube group is the best place to find it.

Release date might be announced in the video. Play.com is saying 31st Oct, but that is their guess to try and get early pre-orders.

The viral advertising so far has included Che Guevara holding a football, and the general consensus is that it signifies a 'revolutionary' change/feature or two this year.

Either way, SI says we will be surprised.

The first video is out, and there appears to be 3D pitch action this year. Exciting stuff.

That's the first part of the video. Indeed it looks like there will be a 3D engine this year. Not sure what to make of that as the first couple of 2D engines were pants. I will say that it's certainly got me interested though as I'd presumed that they would be having minimal enhancements this year what with the concentration on FM Online.

3D engine has been in development for 3 years they say, so hopefully it'll be good. Hoping they make height have an effect if they're going to have 3D engine too, as currently it's a cosmetic stat only.

i was about to write GEEEEEEEKS! but now i see there is a 3d engine i might just buy this time!

Damn them, they've got me sold on this.

I wasn't going to bother this year as I'm too into my Southend game.

Well they were keen to stress that it's a 3D representation of the existing FM engine which they've been tweaking all year through the thorough testing that FM Live has been getting.

3D match engine has been in development for ages and is based on the 3D graphics of a first-person football game which Sega have produced in the past. Mix that with the match engine, which SI have tweaked and tested to death due to FML this year, and it should be an excellent step up. If not, you can just switch back to 2D!

The other additions are great too. Remodelled regen, confidence and transfer modules, excellent!

This should be really good.

Plus, my Southend research this year should make the game even better for Southend fans :D

I must say, I've loved the proper Southend squads we've been treated to in the past 2-3 years with youth players etc, so hoping yours is just as good JTSB.

Good to see the transfer system being re-written too.
