Flavs or Collis?

I just want to state that I in no way having a dig at Darryl, just wondered on peoples opinion on the keeper situation.
Collis has been part of a defensive unit that has kept 2 clean sheets on the trot, Daryl is undoubtedly a legend and has earnt us many a point or three in the past, I presume Darryl will be available for selection soon so my question is DOES FLAVS WALK BACK INTO THE SIDE or has Collis done enough to keep his place in the side

Collis should stay, until he does something wrong or Flavs performs better. Collis shouldn't loose his spot, because of favourism.

"You can only save whats put in front of you" and so far, Collis has done that.

Collis deserves to keep his place in my book.

He has waited patiently for a long time for the chance to be Number 1 & has turned in some great performances.

If I was in his shoes I would be gutted if Tilly opted for Flahavan purely out of loyalty.

Like I said in the England thread, why change a winning side.

If Flavs walks straight back in then Collis will surely get pi$$ed off and probably want to leave in January

Daryl is undoubtedly a legend

Is he? He's done well for us on the whole and is a great shot-stopper but is he really anywhere near the likes of Royce in the 90's or Sammy before him? Not for me.

As for the no. 1 spot Collis surely has to keep his place, the defence look so much more confident with him between the posts - we can't afford to have a keeper that doesn't command his area in the side, simple as that. For my money I even think a Clarke-Barrett pairing over the next few games while Richards is out might actually work with Collis behind.....it certainly doesn't with Flavs.

Royce is not fit to lick Flavs boots IMO.
He kicked like a girl & Flahavan is technically far superior.

Plus, I can't ever see Daryl accepting bribes (joke) to let in shed-loads of goals whenever he plays against his old team.....

Anyone around in the mid 90's who saw Royce every week in a Shrimpers shirt is likely to say he is the best keeper Southend United have been fortunate to possess in the recent past, even more so than Sammy. In the 95/96 season he was quite simply the best keeper in Division One and was being courted by Liverpool, West Ham and Tottenham among others (we rejected a bid of £1m+ from Liverpool in late '95). I thought Sammy was a great keeper but Royce became (and is still) the finest keeper I've ever seen at Roots Hall. It's rare that anyone ever gets a 10/10 in the papers, Royce used to get 3 or 4 a season. His performances at West Ham and Palace in cup competitions remain the greatest goalkeeping displays I've ever seen, and the 2 Banks-esque stops against Derby from Sturridge (home) and Bradford from Edinho (home) will live long in the memory as the most breathtakingly impossible stops I've ever seen from a Southend custodian.

I was right behind the South goal for the Edinho save and still don't know how it didn't go in. Chris Kamara described Roycies performance that day as the finest display of goalkeeping he'd ever witnessed and it was hard to argue.

I like Flavs and I think he gets too much stick on here at times from certain people but he's not in the same league as Simon Royce was in 95/96 when he almost single-handedly had us competing for a play-off spot up until the last two months of the season.

That Edinho save is still the best save I've ever seen. Absolutely awesome, still no idea how that wasn't a goal.

Collis hasn't done anything wrong and deserves to have his chance. But Tilly wont lose his faith in Flav's so I recon as soon as Flavs is fit Collis will be dropped.

Collis should remain. Flavs need to earn his place back for me. I dont see what Collis has done wrong to be dropped. Agreed he has not had a great deal to do but what he has done has been pretty solid and with the height in the defence he has certainly added something rather than taken something away.

Both are good keepers in different ways. I hope Tilly sticks with form rather than loyalty as the latter doesnt win anything.

Steve Collis actually deserves more recognition for the fact that his positioning has been far superior to Darryl's .It sometimes looks that he has had an easy game ,but he makes himself big in the goal by taking up the best position when the shot is fired .
I liked the way he plucked everything out of the air against Oldham and commanded his six yard box .
When the crosses come flying in against Darryl ,you see him rooted to his goal line or stuck on the near post for a free header into the other side of the goal as he scrambles across too late .The opposition usually cotton on to our small and uncertain goalie and send on the tall strikers on the bench and bomb in the crosses ,which unfortunately pays dividends .

Collis should keep his place until such a time may come as he has a bad run of form or an injury - I will be very disappointed if tilly puts flavs straight back in for donny if hes fit - i think daryl is a fantastic keeper but after all the time steve has warmed the bench and waited for his chance along with showing great patience - now is the time he DESERVES a shot at 1st team football...

but as someone else said - i wouldnt be surprised if i see daryl out there on saturday...:thump:
