Fire Strikes

When they did it before I think it was over pay and they did see an increase.

As long as it's not for nothing.

I'm sure our lads would love to strike at the moment as they have been stung by a **** up by the RAF. Something called AIP was introduced which meant your pay could increase if you got extra qualifications. Turns out for years they have messed up the payments to certain people and over paid them. Now the RAF have realised their mistake and are making the people affected pay the money back. So all they have been able to do is set up a government petition, shame they can't strike as I'm sure it would help swing in their favour.

But has it actually had that effect in the past?

Yes, these cuts have been continual since the Eighties, each round becomes a battle.

British gas boiler insurance £15 per month.... Fire service £4 per month for every one in your house. Don't forget that covers you at work in the car, on the train [including when its bombed] or plane and when your children are out clubbing some kind sole has made it safe for them.

So lets take it to the limit. Do away with the fire service completely, close every station and sell every engine. Put our own fires out, and get a passer by to cut you from the car.

How much would your car insurance increase alone ? ..... now the house insurance.... That's right your already paying more for insurance than you saved in your rates in the previous cuts.

Does anything actually get achieved from these strikes?

My mate, who is in the Brigade at Basildon gets a lot done in his second and third jobs while out on strike. If they could have a couple of weeks "out" then he can really get some work done.:winking:

and again

15 hour strike from 6pm sunday night :stunned:

they spend more time on strike then i do in the office some months

Be serious people! it is havoc when they are "out"; destroys the breakfast/lunch and tea cooking rota, the dennis doesn't get it's daily wash and wax and the volley ball skills quickly disappear.
Fire personnel are leaving in their droves (NOT), and as for recruiting that seems to be a hell of a job (NOT).
If they had it that bad I believe they would seek employment elsewhere, do they? do they ****!

I read that the Essex fire Chief has been on special leave since June?
Is he being paid? is he suspended for being naughty? If he is "off" for so long does that mean he is superfluous?
Is his situation anything to do with the strikes or symptomatic of the mess that is Trumpton?
