Films you've watched recently.

Deadpool - 9/10 - I was dubious about this as I'm not overly a fan of Ryan Reynolds, thought he ruined Blade Trinity. He's good in comedy films. Like Guardians of the galaxy I was worried about a comedy style Marvel film but just as guardians did this blew me away. Very funny and really enjoyable. Reynolds was brilliant and Deadpool is a great character, not sure how they will include him in X men film as the comedy side doesn't suit the X men films. A great watch I recommend to all!

Rewatched Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (I watched on a flight originally where the editing of violent scenes meant a confusing film turned even more obtuse!). I think it's a really good film but only if you've read the book, otherwise it's asking quite a lot in terms of details and characters who aren't given much exposition. The acting and cinematography is great.

Kill your friends- solid 7

A sort of American Psycho in the 90's UK record industry, quite enjoyable and a very good soundtrack!

The Confirmation - low budget American Indie flick. Clive Owen plays an alcoholic dad who spends an weekend with his estranged son. Mildly funny, a side of America you rarely see in the flicks, s'alright if a bit bleak. 7/10

Thoroughly enjoyed Michael Apted's Coal Miner's Daughter with Sissy Spacek,Tommy Lee Jones and the late, great Levon Helm last night.

Missed it when it was first released.

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Far from the incoherent mess that it has been made out to be, and certainly not mostly dream sequences either. Yes it has it's faults, like trying to cram so much in, the basic story is fine but some area's could have been explained better like Lex's motivations. It was much better than Man of Steel. Oh and Batfleck was great. 8/10

Not my bag but my boy watched it on line and loved it.

Lady In the van. Typical Maggie Smith performance. I'll give the film an 7 just for her performance but I found it slow going

The Revenant. Now I'll be honest I'm not a DiCaprio fan so wasn't expecting much. Breathtaking scenery, decent plot and helped me through the night flight. I can't sleep on planes 8 for me

Suffragette - excellent. Should be shown to every teenage girl to remind how thankful they should be for the fight of these women 100 years ago. 9/10

The Reef - 6/10

Classic jaws style film, honestly wasn't all that but what do you expect from a shark type film. However worth a watch as it gave us a few laughs (Mainly via the poor aussi acting)

thoroughly enjoyed this and I watched before reading the book - have done now.
watched the Alec Guinness TV one along with Smiley's People (excellent) and thought Oldman possibly out did him.
I'm hoping they go ahead with making the film version of Smiley's People as for me this is the better one of the 3 books and also the better TV series out of the two.

"Absolutely Anything" Not one of Simon Peggs greatest films but nonetheless I fairly enjoyed it. Just a fun little film really.

From IMDb 'A group of eccentric aliens confer a human being with the power to do absolutely anything, as an experiment.'

6.5/10
