I always liked the Long Riders, the story of the James Younger gang starring various Keaches, Carradines, Quaids and Guests.
Never saw that one either.

Open range is qualityHaven't seen Open Range so can't really comment.Would agree with your list apart from Lonesome Dove ;which again I haven't seen.So can't comment.Perhaps Two Rode Together and Ride the High Country plus The Man from Laramie should also be on it.Also liked Shenandoah.
High Noon and Run of the Arrow.
James Stewart? Iirc. Lots of these films were carried by the top actors, Stewart, , Wayne, Scott, Ford, Ladd, Peck, Heston etc.
And now that calibre of actor is largely missing, as are the scripts and plots.
Indeed many of the big stars of today are not young guns or of a suitable age for roles of young cowboys. Hanks, Duvell, Pitt, Costner, etc are all past the 50 yrs and seemingly there is a dearth of new 20/30 or 40 year old wannabe stars successful in making the top.
YESIf your talking westerns then you have to have Clint Eastwood on yourl list.
Yes, Josie Wales takes the spot for me, good story, several sub plots and interesting characters besides Clint. If your talking westerns then you have to have Clint Eastwood on yourl list.

The Dollars trilogy are good, as were the John Ford cavalry trilogy and are worthy mentions.
