End of the pier show ⭐⭐🦐
#Ha! Remember the cinemas were closed here during the first lockdown (as in the UK) last year but fortunately I've got quite a large DVD collection.
None of the under counter stuff i hope.

I imagine “quite “ is an understatement

wow that’s impressive. Without wanting to sound-patronising, you clearly love your music, have you considered a better system. I get the convenience of what you have.Indeed.(Iknow I've got getting on for 4,000 CD's my JB7 tells me that.Unfortunately I don't have the time/energy to count the DVDs).
Not my scene.

Most people have never heard. “Good system “ let alone an “excellent one”.
My brother in law has an excellent system and although I can’t justify that (£8000 plus) I can tell the difference with my “good” system, which again sounds very different to what most people have. Obviously “good” is subjective but you get my point. You have to hear something better to appreciate what you are missing
The £8000 set up is obviously ridiculous, but you Can spend a fraction of that, on second hand kit that is very good, way under £1000 ( less than 500 is possible if you don’t need a record deck). Having said that I have no idea on availability in Spain.I live in hope that our younger daughter will marry her current partner (his Dad apparently owns a specialist hi-fi shop in Paris). Maybe I could get a decent discount from him on something better than I've already got? Until then I guess I'll just have to make do with my "convenient" system since ,like you, I don't really have 8,000 quid to spare for an "excellent" one.
(PS I should stress that I like our daughter's boyfriend anyway).

My record deck is 34 years old and my amp aid 31 years old. Amazingly both are actually worth more second hand now than they were then but the amp section hand is far less than half the price of something new and as good ( both British, the record deck actually built inEastwood at Rayleigh weir by the go karts. “rega” . Nothing could touch them for the money.
Quality Second hand speakers and CD players are very cheap.
I have zero idea on the hard drive bit
My brother in law lived at home until he was near 30 and then on his own so he could spend his money as he wanted. He is one of these people who goes to extremes, or simply doesn’t have something.Sounds like you're a lot more techie than I am.Guess I'll have to wait and see if I can have a chat with my future son-in-law's Dad for an upgrade.
News of the World, on netflix, Tom Hanks.
A Paul Greengrass film shot in faded light and just off focus, an okay watch but not great. Hanks is very good as per usual and carries the movie which would have been much less without him.
I enjoy westerns, Open Range is, imo, best for many years, but N o t W doesn't have the same pace or development of characters.Thought it was better than you give it credit for.Like any Western, IMO, it really needs to be seen on the big screen.

Robert Duvall matches Hanks for screen presence too. The OR film/big space is better and sets a marker.
My other top Westerns? Big Country, The Searchers, , Shane, Wild Bunch, Stagecoach, Last of Moheccans, Wolves AND Lonesome Dove.
James Stewart? Iirc. Lots of these films were carried by the top actors, Stewart, , Wayne, Scott, Ford, Ladd, Peck, Heston etc.Winchester 73 comes to mind too.
Half way through, same as most Adam Curtis films the state of the world today and how we got here with some unconventional reference points. Very interesting as alwaysAnyone watched any of the Adam Curtis 'Can't get you out of my head' films on the BBC iPlayer? And more importantly, what it is all about?

I’d add Henry Fonda to those, The Big Country has a terrific music score.
