Films you've watched recently.

Saw Vittorio De Sicca's (1948) Bicycle Thieves last night.A post WW2 classic of neo-realist cinema.Ken Loach is a big fan apparently.Loved the moving portayal of the relationship between father and son in post-war,post -Fascist Italy.

Saw Truffaut's wonderful 1959 Les Quatre Cent Coups (The 400 Blows).last night. For those who don't know, the film isn't about corporal punishment. :Winking: Dawned on me that the ending was ripped off by Tony Richardson in his film version of The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner.

Watched Angelas Ashes last night. Had seen it yonks ago and it still comes over as a superb film - great cast, beautifully filmed.

Saw Martin Scorsee's remake of Cape Fear again last night.Still much prefer the 1962 original described by Marty as "the perfect B movie." Still Bob Mitchum was great in both films.

Saw Ken Loach's heartbreaking Sorry We Missed You again last night.Anyone who thinks the gig economy is a good idea should watch this film.

Sincerely hope that Ken Loach has at least another film in him.Wouldn't suprise me to learn that scriptwriter Paul Laverty is working on something about the Covid-19 crisis for a 2021 release.

We watched Dirty Harry again last night. As it was made in 1971 it was a while since we'd seen it. Absolutely great film with Clint at his best, complete with 'Do you feel lucky, punk?'. Some of the effects were a bit naff but we could forgive that.

It is a fantastic film with a fantastic soundtrack. Lolo Schifrin at his best.

Scorpios theme is my favourite...

Andy Robinson as Scorpio gives an amazing performance.

Just watched Marvellous. Film based on Neil Baldwin, an autistic chap who loves Stoke. Lou Macari made him his kit man and says he was his greatest signing. He went on to have his own football team, Neil Baldwin FC, still going in 2014 when the film was made and has an honorary degree at Keel uni.

What struck me was how nice Lou Macari is. He looked after Neil, even putting him on as a sub in the last 5 mins of a testimonial against Aston Villa

Yes, it was great. Toby Jones was superb.

Kelly's Heroes (1970). Having a bit of an early Eastwood fest. Still some great humour even though I know it's coming. A great film, so stop with the negative waves baby!
