Films you've watched recently.

Michael Moore's Where to invade next.

Presumably a question America's Presidential candidates are currently asking themselves.

Likeable film.

how many films do you watch, I get the impression most days , nothing wrong with that, just wondered

Ha!

Not been too busy since Cambridge Exam courses stopped at the LFB in mid-May (poor dears have their Bac exams this month) until I start Cambridge Exam orals (as an Examiner ) from next week.

Currently, one a day in answer to your question, (either at the flics or on DVD) :winking:

The Money Machine opens here tomorrow.Fancy seeing that too.

Warcraft - not sure if this is anybody else's cup of tea, but IMHO a good film. Apart from lots of orc/human orc/orc fight scenes, lots of plot and smaller sub plots being established - beware, first of three I think, but a good film to start with. 7, poss 8 / 10, well worth an afternoon of anybody's money. Minor drawback, it could do with a bit more humour. If you didn't like lord of the rings, the hobbit, conan the barbarian, you're not gonna like this. Sword and Sorcery at it's best (add sword and sorcery to that list, now S & S was a great film) My penance for this is that I now have to go with mrs e to see love and frienship:sad:

Dark Horse.

True story of a bunch of drinkers from a working men's club in Wales who got a syndicate together to own a racehorse. That horse - Dream Alliance - went on to be pretty good. Certainly more than an owner could expect for £10 a week.

File under 'heartwarming'. 8/10.

Saw Henry Hathaway's True Grit again last night.John Wayne's second best film, (after Stagecoach, of course), which he rightly won an Oscar for.

Just a word in praise of Lucian Ballard's (Sam Peckinpah's regular cameraman) cineamatography.Absolutely superb.

Most likely mentioned before, but finally watched 12 Years a Slave on Ch4 last night

Harrowing story of human suffering and unbelievable cruelty make this hard to watch at times, the truly great acting and cinematography shows why it won so many awards! Another dark and shameful episode in past history that everyone should know about, you ask yourself how the hell did this happen...

Score 9/10

10 Cloverfield Lane - A young woman wakes up in a bunker, and is told that she can't leave as there has been a chemical or nuclear attack....or has there?

Really enjoyed it. 9/10

Demain.(Tomorrow).

Highly rated French documentary.Didn't do much for me I'm afraid.Thought Michael Moore's Where too Invade Next was much sharper and certainly funnier.

Interesting though that both documentaries highlighted Finland's education system as a model to follow.

Eye in the Sky - terrorists in Kenya being tracked & targetted in Las Vegas & Surrey. An absolutely astounding piece of film making - how watching people in various rooms around the world argue about killing is utterly gripping. 10/10

Took a night off from the football (it was only Portugal) and saw a Peter Shaffer double bill.

Equus and Amadeus.

Had seen both before and at the theatre too.

Independence Day - Resurgence. Wait for the DVD, it was a bit rubbish. Reminded me of the film Starship troopers

went last night, knew it was going to be a bit crap, but it was a chance to meet up with friends.emmmm bit crap is an understatement - its totally awfull from start to finish . Its saving grace was that it only about 1hr 40mins long. We joked with the staff afterwards could we have our money back, they said we were not the first to say that . I don't see the comparrsions with Starship Trooeprs though , at least that took the mick out of itself and didn't take itself seriously. IDR is just brain out crap with no redemming qualities at all

wait for the DVD- from a boot sale for £0.50p

Saw it the weekend at the Imax.

Kids enjoyed it but it was awful. Literally nothing good about it at all.

The way they tried to set up the next film at the end was hilarious. No we dont want to see you to and fight the aliens on their turf. Just let it go.
