FC- Week 3

loz

President
time to get the ball rolling on this I feel. I'm at home tomorrow versus Eddsup (316). They've drawn both their games so far, making huge totals with a very good opening pair, one of whom has a BTR of over 77000. I doubt I can beat them with this batting, so... assuming he hasn't changed his orders (and he's not logged in since Sept 29, so i doubt it), I'm thinking of just playing for the draw and letting him make 1500-3 or whatever he feels like. Am i better off bowling first or batting first in this equation?

I would just let him bat and save your batsmens fitness.

My oppo has one 96k superstar and not a lot else. Fitness is up and our opponents on Friday and SUnday don't look too taxing so I can play a strong squad anyway. First FC game on a Hard & Fast, maybe we'll score some runs this time!

My oppo play on a flat pitch, my bowlers are tired enough as it is, let alone playing on a batsman friendly surface, but at least their bowlers are tired too, fresh, fair, lively and invigorated.

Boateng down to moderate, thinking of not having him bowling until the second/third day. Cloudy and humid tomorrow, so even with my tired bowlers would it be better to bowl first?

Going to have to look at both teams fitness levels but i think im going to have to prioritise the 2 50 over matches this week. Im going to have to leave Jackman out i think so that will cause problems on its own.

BTW - Where/how do u find out about the weather forecast on BT!?

TY

Kev

Post training our team is:

4 x sublime
4 x energetic
1 x invigorated
1 x lively
1 x fresh

The two YP's are always going to be below the rest so can't complain. Suthers dropped to invigorated after adding a second net this week but that was balanced off by Cunningham staying at energetic after going from 3 to 2.

Go to country details and click on the region where you're playing.

Essex:
Today: partially cloudy and windy
Tomorrow: partially cloudy and humid
10/10/2007: partially cloudy and humid
11/10/2007: partially cloudy and humid
12/10/2007: sunny
13/10/2007: sunny

Pretty much the same weather forecast for Kent where i will be playing my games! Going to be playing on a H&F surface so there is going to be something in it for the batters and the bowlers. Looking at the fitness levels, Jackman is going to have to play tomorrow. Raven ( invigorated ) and Tapp ( lively ) wont be figuring by the looks of it so Hitchman will get another chance to impress!

I'd be reluctant to give up entirely. His main two batsmen are miles better than any of your players, but both have low fitness at the moment, and their best batsman has only proficient form. This combined with the forecasted cloudy and humid weather gives you more of a chance.

I'd suggest going for the win first day, and then changing your instructions overnight to preserve fitness if its going to end in a draw.

You should also make sure you bat, as there are 5 batting points available. Batting takes a lot less out of your players' fitness levels than bowling. I'd therefore rather preserve fitness by batting than by bowling.

Just had a look at the oppo's 15 man squad (liked that straight away) and saw that he lost on Friday and then played 90 off the 100 overs yesterday and just about won. His fitness levels currently stand at:

2 x fair - 1 20yo with 22K BT rating & 1 21yo at 40K BT rating
2 x lively - 1 22yo & 1 23yo around 35K BT rating
1 x invigorated
1 x moderate - 19yo with 40K BT rating
3 x energetic
6 x sublime - 4 of them are 2/3k rated players!

There main man sits with an impressive 113K BT rating with wages at £30,000 pw!

My expectations for tomorrow have just gone up!

:)

Good points YB, appreciated. His bowling attack seems to be predominately lively at best as well, so may be worth taking advantage of that while I can. May opt to bat if i win the toss, with my bowlers on attacking orders so if they're batting i have a shot at taking out their openers early on.

Having set my donkey line up as default last night I had a quick look at opps on the train in this morning. We're closer than I thought rating wise so I might revise my line up for one last stab at enjoying FC. Fitness will be a big factor in bowler selection so I might even dip into the market. Got 900K burning a hole so losing 10pc of that with an experienced fit head might be worth a stab.

Looks like FC could be important for member numbers, one FC win and we're back up to 5 per update after weeks of 1 and 2 (and sometimes none at all).

Thought I'd hit the Level IV cap but perhaps not. 2,045 members now for the record, how does that compare with other IV teams?

Not going to be up before 10am tomorrow so Tapp and Raven will both be rested. Akram, Khotosolang & Hitchman with join Guy and Jackman and Titterton in the bowling attack and the normal mediorce batting attack of mine!

Playing Midi CC tomorrow, should win comfortably but no guarentees. Playing a full-strength line-up except one bowler as I'm away, so want to win in 2 days. Big game on Friday against Old Chelmsfordians, so will be hoping some fitness is preserved for that.

My 11 for tomorrow's fitness levels are:

6 x sublime
4 x energetic
1 x invigorated

One player resting is on energetic. Fitness levels fairly comfortable at the moment. Would have been 7 sublimes had I not sold one player earlier today.

Not sure how my oppo will line up. Last week he hardly played any bowlers of a reasonable standard, and this week might well be the same, as 2 of bowlers are at Fair.

I'm not looking too bad PFL wise. I've picked 6 bowlers including 2 all-rounders (Schoeman and Middleton) who are both at Energetic, everyone else is, with the exception of Curle who is at Invigorated, and therefore gets a rest until Friday.

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Wolfmen

We can tell you that Wolfmen won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a bit on the dry side. A fair bit of help for the spinners I think on this partially cloudy and humid day

Aylesbury v DIBS DIPPERS

We can tell you that Aylesbury won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking a bit on the dry side. A fair bit of help for the spinners I think on this sunny day.

Annoyed at losing the toss, one I could've done winning.

Welcome to Royal Bruisers CG for the match between Royal Bruisers and Southend United.

We can tell you that Royal Bruisers won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking like a road. As flat as a pancake. No help for the bowlers on this sunny day.
