FC - Match 9

No breakthrough at the end but plenty of runs on the board. As i said earlier, I believe a draw is all i require to avoid relegation.

End of Over 8 (4 runs). Rhema Warriors: 28-0, runrate=3.50
Trail by 526 runs. (The Flying Scotsmen 554-6 dec)
Overs left today: 0
Burns 4-0-8-0
Gilkes* 13 (20 balls)
Roff 15 (28 balls)

Benji follows his excellent ton with a late wicket leaving us with a chance of forcing a follow on that looked hugely unlikely when we were 170-6 earlier!

End of Over 22 (2 runs). Dragnets: 55-3, runrate=2.50
Trail by 288 runs. (ShrimperZone CC*343-10)
Overs left today: 0
Benjamin 1-0-2-1
Wicks 18 (44 balls)
Shields 1 (2 balls)
Last Wicket: Maruma c & b. Benjamin 25 (FOW: 53/3)

Bowled oppo out for 122 and im 220-3 in reply. Another sunny day tomorrow, so hoping to hit 360 sharp-ish and end it after 2 days!!

The top team bowled Inter Lancs out for 268 but are just 60-6 in reply, so things going nicely at the moment.

Annoying that it 'resets' the bowling orders overnight so having bowled most of the overs yesterday, Digana and Barrowdale started again this morning and have now bowled 36 of the 39 overs so far in their innings, the two non spinners of my 6 man bowling line up on a dusty pitch! Should have changed the priorities overnight but you'd think it would take into account how many overs were bowled on the previous day.

End of Over 39 (1 runs). Dragnets: 84-4, runrate=2.15
Trail by 259 runs. (ShrimperZone CC 343-10)
Overs left today: 93
Digana 18-7-28-2
Feasey* 1 (3 balls)
Shields 19 (53 balls)

Last Wicket: Wicks lbw b. Digana 27 (FOW: 83/4)

Southend United won by an innings and 297 runs.

1. Lower Standards CC 8 - 122
2. General Stars 8 - 113
3. Inter Lancs 8 - 107

Lower Standards are playing Inter Lancs and Inter Lancs got 247 AO (2 points) but bowled Lower Standards out for 69 and they are 35-2 following on. Lower Standards are going to get a total of 3 points and Inter Lancs look set for 19 points which should leave me with a 9 point buffer over Inter Lancs and 10 points over Lower Standards.

My last game next week is against Lower Standards and all i need to do is Draw and get Max batting and bowling points to guarantee the title. They do play on a dusty surface which could also help!!

Kev

Slowly chipping away. 73 runs left to get the remaining 5 wickets, only one more bat to come after this, though we'll have the two weakest bowler working in tandem shortly.

End of Over 56 (6 runs). Dragnets: 120-5, runrate=2.14
Trail by 223 runs. (ShrimperZone CC 343-10)
Overs left today: 76
Hartburn 1-0-6-0
Sidwell* 6 (5 balls)
Feasey 22 (63 balls)

Last Wicket: Shields b. Marriott 26 (FOW: 108/5)

As expected given the standard of their two openers it has been a bit of a slog, however managed to make a breakthrough prior to lunch and hoping i can now make good headway into the rest of their batting line up which is a lot weaker.

The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 43 (3 runs). Rhema Warriors: 199-1, runrate=4.63
Trail by 355 runs. (The Flying Scotsmen 554-6 dec)
Overs left today: 75
Chatterton 6-0-32-0
Gilkes* 89 (109 balls)
Shaw 13 (26 balls)

Last Wicket: Roff c. Arber b. Padmakumara 94 (FOW: 169/1)

Going well, as we look to get to 360 and declare. Also the 4th placed side has only picked up 3 bonus points, so we'll go above them by a point if we pick up a 22 point win.

Lawrenson 0 (13 balls)

Last Wicket: Conelly lbw b. Johnson 1 (FOW: 70/8)

Tea has halted the inevitable!

In the other game Lower Standards are now (in effect) 51-2 and with the weather worsing in their game tomorrow, it could play right into their hands to unbelievably win it!

Thought we'd messed our chances of forcing the follow on when they made it to within 15 runs of the target with 4 wickets remaining but Benji took out the stubborn No. 8 and the remainder followed quickly. Should win from here.

End of Over 14 (1 runs). Dragnets: 23-0, runrate=1.64 (1st Inn: 188-10)
Trail by 132 runs. (ShrimperZone CC 343-10)
Overs left today: 32
Barrowdale 7-1-14-0
Maruma* 11 (38 balls)
Duncum 12 (46 balls)

For only the 2nd time this season, we've got maximum bonus points. Now if we can win, we should go out of the relegation zone.

Last Wicket: Inamullah c. Stride b. Kealey 123 (FOW: 276/4)

Hmmm, as so often happens it's stubborn resistance this time around. Hartburn proving his worth as a 6th bowler......

End of Over 22 (15 runs). Dragnets: 74-0, runrate=3.36 (1st Inn: 188-10)
Trail by 81 runs. (ShrimperZone CC 343-10)

I won by an innings and 151 runs.

Good news in the other game as well as Lower Standards have made a mistake by declaring on 300-3!

End of Over 9 (Maiden). Inter Lancs: 19-1, runrate=2.11 (1st Inn: 247-10)
Trail by 104 runs. (Lower Standards CC 69-10 & 301-3 dec)

Haha, schoolboy error! Does that mean you should promote to Level V?

Mario has made a couple of breakthroughs here so hopefully we can start counting down to promotion.

End of Over 31 (Maiden). Dragnets: 94-2, runrate=3.03 (1st Inn: 188-10)
Trail by 61 runs. (ShrimperZone CC 343-10)

Maruma* 45 (88 balls)
Wicks 0 (3 balls)

Last Wicket: Bishop c. Lamey b. Marriott 5 (FOW: 94/2)

won my game against a bot yesterday, the highlight being bowling them out in the second innings for the princely total of 1 all out (Reeves 4-0, Devine 4-1)...

End of Over 125 (5 runs). The Flying Ferrets: 361-3, runrate=2.89
Lead by 1 runs. (Southend 360-3 dec)
Overs left today: 0
Granville 19-3-68-1
Baker* 83 (134 balls)
Botes 4 (8 balls)
Last Wicket: Olowe lbw b. Sipho 26 (FOW: 348/3)

We've arranged a declaration. He's going to bowl some dross, I'm gona try rack up 270 and try bowl them out in the 70-80 overs remaining. Gives us both a chance of winning. Have been in The Flying Ferrets' various leagues for a long time so I trust their manager to stay true to it.
