The Royal Stores Pub and there was a Hotel opposite the Ritz but the name of that I forget.

Which way John? Found this bit on old cinemas which might revive a few memories

Astoria, opened in 1935, built on the site of the Luker Brewery. Became the original Odeon in 1940.

Cannon, in Southend. This is now the New Empire Theatre, in Alexandra Street. Cinema-wise it started life as the Rivoli cinema in 1920, then became the ABC in 1937. It became the Cannon in 1986.
Cannon, in Westcliff-on-Sea. This opened as the Metropole in 1939, became the Essoldo in 1954, then the Classic 1972. It became the Cannon in 1979, before finally closing in 1991. The site is now a Halfords branch
Strand, Southend. This opened in 1920 close to Warrior Square. It became the Essoldo in 1955, and closed in 1960, when the building became an extension of the Keddies department store
Corona in Leigh-on-Sea (opened in 1929 and now the Leigh Snooker Hall)

Changed it's name to the Middleton Brewery when the old Odeon was built and eventually became a pizza place on the corner.

I spent many hours there as a kid..it was in the block of shops where the Dulux paint shop is now.

The Dome is still visible down Southchurch Road and is opposite the road Hils lives down.

I remember the ABC well as it was the easiest cinema to bunk into.

This place was always a tip that used to only show second rate films and stunk of wee...I doubt they ever spent much money on it
.

Just about Remember this one as it was next door to the Old Victoria Hotel which is now Barclays bank.

There was another also another cinema in Leigh which was the old bingo hall now modernised next door to Irma's pizza.

I thought it must have been, I only ever remember that as an open space before then. Must have been there while I was young but I just don't remember it. I remember the excitement of the new library being opened.

Yes my man - completely agree. One of my best nights ever was in the Cork and Cheese. Now that was a pub!

We used to go in there often as they were customers of the ours at the Bank I worked at. Used to be run by a guy called Miller, I thought it was Peter, but may be getting that confused as the bloke who owns Adventure Island also has that name. When he sold up, he went over to Le Touquet and bought a hotel out there I seem to remember. Used to drink rather too much in there on rather too many an occasion!

What was the computer shop in the precinct with the yellow sign round the corner from Estuary? I used to buy my Acorn Electron games in there.

Does anyone remember the camera shop on queens road that had a room in the back that sold software?

I used to buy my Commodore 64 games from there.
