Southampton...Be good to be with the team to celebrate staying up :)

UP THE BLUES !!!

west brom for me, the way we showed 18,000 midland mugs how to support your team was fantastic, non stop singing and ginge scoring......nice

West Brom away was superb.

Remember reading that there was nowhere for us southerners to enjoy a bevvy near to the ground,so got up there early to undertake the challenge of finding a watering hole.

Parked up half mile from ground and started walking away from the Hawthorns amid suburbia when suddenly heard a shout to our right.Turned to see Asian brummie beckoning us in for a drink into what could only be described as a terraced semi.

Bearing in mind me and my fellow shrimper were wearing our colours that day,our first reaction was of caution, but with a glance at each other that said -yeh fcukit- we gingerly ventured towards his front door which was obviously closely guarded by two West Brom-clad burlys behind him as Asian brummie reassured us there would be no problem in here.

Well, poked our noses in through the door and bugger me the place was HUGE! Seemed that this was two semis knocked into one and could only be described as an old-fashioned mens drinking club, with long bar running through the middle flanked by seating around walls and lo and behold look-they've only got sky football on fairly big screens!Result we thought.

There was one drawback as we stepped up to the bar,the place was brimming with brummies dressed in West Brom football tops.****,blue and white stripes everywhere, probably about a hundred all told.

So there we stood with our famous Southend shirts clutching our lagers with sweaty palms. It felt like being caught in headlights as we sensed everyone looking at us.At that point,Asian brummie bloke strolls up smiling with outstreched hand, obviously the owner and said- "welcome guys, you'll get no trouble in here,it's a family club and we kicked out the aggro years ago.No-one wants to lose their membership here!Anyway, saw you two and thought you boys were looking for a drink and if you'd walked the extra 2miles to next boozer, the firm up there could've given you some trouble!"

Well, that was a turn up for the books we said after 4pints later as we strolled down to the away end.

Oh,sung ourselves hoarse in a great stadium with plenty of history and unlike these plastic Ricoh-like grounds you get these days.Ginger came on and nodded home to level and we all went barmy.

Bloody lovely day out!

Nice story fella - they are a good crowd those Baggies , n'est-ce pas ?

Yep, don't know why there's a Sunderland love-in on here just now.
West Brom are a great club, a good bunch of fans and a nice big new ground with atmopshere. Oh & also very charitable to lesser teams (e.g. 4 points to us and then kindly getting 2 sent off in their dismal home defeat to one of the worst teams I've seen in years Sheff Weds tonight!)

Birmingham away for the win and Sunderland for the stadium, fans and atmosphere. I enjoyed QPR too. I think Plymouth away could be a good day out.

For me predictably it is Sunderland because it is the closest away game for me......Amazing ground.....nice weekend........crap result, but enjoyed being there

Cardiff! Great goal, great day, free beer, free pies, great win - great stuff!!! Best ground? Probably Stadium of Light, but actually liked Liecester

Preston game not just for this season but alltime favourite away game. great stadium, great museum, amazing result three of the best goals ever seen. Couldnt have been better. Flew up there via Blackpool. Blackpool is a really great place and made me realize how tacky Southend is as a seaside resort.

Go stand in the corner for abusing Southend.

OK, there are a few drawbacks about Southend but most of them are shared by Blackpool & other big seaside resorts too!
Me thinks you're just a bit bored with your home town and anything else seems like an improvement!
They cured the dog "fouling" problem in Blackpool then?
When I went last season it was Dog Sh*t Central as Shrimp in a Kilt & Overseas Shrimper will testify!

Seconded! My trip to Blackpool made me appreciate Southend a whole lot more. Blackpool is shabby, run-down, covered in the most amazing amount of dog-poo, and the best business up there must be fencing contractor, fencing in all the derelict/demolished buildings that were obviously going to be built on back in the '60s but they ran out of money. I was amazed, because from all the reports I was expecting something a little more salubrious, but it was AWFUL!!!
