Favourite away game this season?

we've be lucky enough to visit some really nice stadiums this year such as ricoh arena, white heart lane, stadium of light, portman road, elland road and even layer road. :D whats your best away trip you've been on this season.

mine is going to sunderland. lovely stadium and never been on a plane to a game before. and just generally a good game. (shame we lost). also loved going to ipswich and white heart lane. fond memories.

Out of those, the only one I enjoyed was Portman Road.

Couldn't care less what the ground was like, its all about the results.

The League Cup game at WHL was good except I was 20 minuites late.

And Ipswich because I actually saw us win away for the first and only time this season.

birmingham away... after 10 mins it looked all over. we were sh*t and brum were excellent.. but what a turn around. also the support was excellent and was quite a nice stadium to visit

For me Brum away - after Clarkey scored his OG I thought the 'sleeping giants' ( TM Fat Judas ) would roll us over but what a great result. Nice to see the fickle Brum fans turn on Bruce and the players as well.

Also good beer up in the city center afterwards

I've not even seen us bag so much as a point away from home, so I'm going to pick the Carling Cup QF game at the Lane, not least because I was fully ensconced with the prawn sandwich brigade that evening. We played our hearts out and were so unlucky to lose... felt proud of the boys that evening.

:)

I haven't done many to be honest, but Ipswich away was by far the best away game for me this season. Quality day.

Drinking beforehand, great result, drinking afterwards, topped off with an awesome night out.

It has been nice to watch football in front of decent sized crowds this year but for me the stadiums in the Championship have been largely disappointing, devoid of character and atmosphere.

By far the best day out had to be Ipswich - just over an hour away on the train with no need to faff around with London, plenty of decent pubs, loads of Shrimpers singing their hearts out and a two-goal victory. The only problem is I was so drunk I barely remember any of it.

White Hart Lane was crap - a lifesize lego set blended in with tower blocks in an area that makes Kandahar look inviting, with the most jumped up graceless fans in existence outside of Upton Park.

Small mercies - at least next year we get to go to some grounds with character again.

My favourite (and only away game this year ) was the League Cup at White Heart Lane. I had to sit amongst the Spurs fans but we gave them a damn good scare and it was really quite funny listening to their moaning about going to extra time against little Southend!

:hilarious:

Hard choice.

Brum - good noise, great result, decent ground and view, good prices too.
Cardiff - great result, great weekend as we stayed in Cardiff and spent the whole time with grins on our faces.
Barnsley in the cup - lunatic support, great performance, sweet revenge.

my winner though is .......

Preston - great support, great spirit, great goals, restoration of hope from despair.

Southamton, May 6th.
When we win, to finish off our season, with our fifth straight win !!!

You have to believe

In the immortal words of Joe Paterno

"What counts in sports is not the victory, but the magnificence of the struggle" !!!

UP THE BLUES

The only away win I've seen this season was Ipswich so I'd be tempted to go for that, but instead I'll say Spurs in the Carling Cup. Partly because I'd been waiting for us to draw Spurs for years.

Agreed. Sunderland was the best stadium, but Brum was the best trip.

Has to be Preston, the 1st time since Swindon away that I saw us win away, and I have been to quite a lot of away games since.
Plus as many have said, for the whole fantastic atmosphere and the meaningfulness of the result.

Without a shaddow of doubt has to be preston. Not just for the game but the visit to the museum and seeing the fourth div trophy with our name on it !

West Brom. Balti Pie Dhansark in the pub before the game, the leisurely walk on the tram and rail lines to the ground (narrowly avoiding the 2.40 to Birmingham Snowhill) and had bags of cough candy thrown at us by the less than gruntled Albion faithful at the end.

Great fun.

Palace.. still has a hint of proper groundness in the middle of a slum.. Half time was a great, 15 minutes of illusion before the awful reality of our corner defence struck home!

mines got to be the fa cup replay at Barnsley, good to get what we deserved and i dont think ive ever seen the conga going round a footy game before, either that or birmingham another great result, and great atmosphere,

Don't speak too soon Jai, we're not down yet!

Best away was Leeds away in the league Cup which I somehow ended up at, only away win I've seen all year...although I've not been to many.

Worst was Derby, £27 quid, soulless stadium and terrible performance.
