fast food to be outlawed?

Socialism's the way forward Gary :) Capitalism failed us..... :whistling:

I agree , but whilst we portray ourselves, as a nation, as a capitalist utopia then surely we can not be hypocritical when it comes to free enterprise.

We are already being hypocritical in a number of inconsitencies , Ie tobacco / Drugs / alcohol...all damaging to health in many ways yet treated differently both legally and socially

As long as there's peer pressure, no matter how healthily you bring your own kids up, there will always be someone else's to encourage them into unhealthy ways whether it's fast food, drinking, smoking or drugs. I'm a firm believer that Home Ec should be taught in all KS3 schools as a compulsory subject up to age 14, at least that way kids are learning the importance of nutrition and how easy it is to make a healthy "fast food" snack at home.

You mean my breakfast of Red Bull and Flame Grilled Steak McCoys is not healthy

I believe they were talking about banning them from within close proximity to schools, presumably to stop kids going out at lunchtime and after school to get them. Nt convinced it is going to work, but something needs to be done, otherwise costs the NHS are facing will begin tospiral out of control. Between smoking and poor diets and to some extent drinking probably fills up to 80% of the medical wards.

Go to any casualty ward on a Friday night and 80% of admissions will be alcohol related, either self inflicted or the innocent result of someone elses drinking. Long term effects of drinking are more of a drain to the taxpayer than smoking will ever be. Charge the same amount for a beer as for a pack of 20.

As for diet there is an underclass that will just never learn or want to learn. Their offspring need to be sterilised at birth. In the good old feudal days religion, the rythm method and premature death due to disease together with social exclusion of the lower classes and forcing them to live in squalor worked. Once they saw through the religious myth, gained the vote and the benefit of trade unions it was the death knell.

I would advocate food tokens as being the only legal tender for fast food.

The 24-year-old fumed yesterday: “It’s disgusting. I spend a lot of money in there. Now I’m never going back.”

She looks like she spends a lot of money in there.

She also looks as if the only trainee nursing she will ever manage is for herself, when she becomes too fat to move, has friction sores all over her vast body, and is unable to manage her own basic hygiene as she won't be able to reach. Silly woman.

ewww, sweaty creases :stunned:

On a serious note though, I had a KFC yesterday at motorway services and struggled to get through a 2 piece meal (for Dinner, not lunch) - i hadnt had lunch. How can a woman eat 14 chicken bits 7 fries and 7 drinks?

I feel de-manned

by my reckoning grays town and surrounding area has between 25/30 takeaways flogging crap which only becomes enjoyable if you are totally wrecked.

i was a mean ******* rarely bought the kids that junk, prefered to give them decent grub.

Why can't people take responsibility for themselves>

good point. If they like the food and can afford it they will eat it. If it turns into a "how much does it cost the health service" debate, then it should be compared with "how much do the people involved contribute to the health service" debate.

add the fact many fast food outlets have extremely poor hygiene,so the chances are if you dont collect food poisoning you will certainly overdose on salt and fat products.

little story,

few months ago was at a boot sale sitting at the table of some ghastly burger van thing, the staff all wore plastic gloves as i settled down to drink my cup of coffee.

the guy who appeared to be the gaffer emerged from the rear of the van whith the filthiest cloth of all time,he then proceeded to wipe the tables of course spreading billions of bacteria,he then wiped his tow bar on his truck then wrung the cloth out which was shockingingly dirty, then went back into te van and prepared/served food with the same gloves!!!

I love the Holier than Thou message on here. Sometimes there's nothing better than a dirty burger at 2am, or a sheesh kebab at 9pm in front of the telly. Life's short - who cares? My kids have the occasional burger. In fact my 18 month old was eating my homemade curry last week - and she's in rude health.

Well said, there is obviously a line though and if/when I have kids I'll treat them occasionaly.

If people want to pig out on the 'KFC curry kebab bargain bucket' and the like then let them.. Its a free country.. If people want to eat raw carrots and drink rainwater and live to 150 and pontificate about having to breathe fag smoke from a pub designated smoking area 3 miles away then let them.. its a free country .. Why go fo rexpensive legislation ? There are plenty of laws re food hygenie, just enforce those,, KFC are a mutli billion dollar firm they wont want poor P.R. regarding poor kitchen standards.. There are plenty of people who think our current obsession with Fruit , Veg and Carbs over Protien is not good for Humans.. Great article in the torygraph about this earlier this week.. Anyway back to the main point.. If a customer of mine wanted to eat loads in my KFC I would make sure she could park as long as she wanted.. Thats business..

The thing is thats occasional. I used to get off the bus outside a takeaway which was closed at the time I finished. However I had a half day on Tuesday's and every Tuesday used to get a chicken chow mein. Now my parents didn't breed a takeaway culture in me, we rarely got them and I guess ate a relatively health diet at home. I imagine if this takeaway was open at 4 o clock I would have got loads of chicken chow meins and probably wouldn't have the body of a greek god like i do now.

I would like to see legislation against sh!t names for takeaways.
