Breaking News Facilities Update - North Bank (NWQ)

If 1000 extra tickets is say £20,000 split between the clubs and some extra food and drink spend it goes some way towards the reputed £100,000 cost but nowhere near pays for itself. Great news though and hopefully it's filled many times to come.

Now’s the time to get the marketing in full effect reduced group saver tickets, kids for a quid let’s get the place full up get the revenue in the bank and get a couple players in for a January kick on up the table.

So if the game is a sell-out (say 10k), at £18 a ticket, that's 180k. 55% goes to Charlton and the FA, so we make about 81k minus VAT and other Expenses, so 50kish + 20k in Prize Money = 70k? So the game has paid for half of the cost. Win and its paid for in full

Reckon we will be over 9k but shy of 10k. average ticket price will be lower than £18 due to kids & concessions but then on plus side some hospitality. I’d say we’ll make around £160k. Agree with calculations after that

Don't forget HMRC will want their 20% V.A.T and suggest the average revenue would be nearer £12 a ticket, Child and Senior tickets are reduced. Might get £80,000 to £100,000 after VAT to be divided between the Clubs. Obviously Hospitality, Refreshments and Bar profits to be added. Whatever, will still be a good day for the finances.

Probably one for @Smiffy but has anyone got an updated seating plan of Roots Hall now to see which bits are now in operation and where the missing 2.5k seats are?

Tom says above we have a certificate for just under 10k - I always thought we had a capacity of about 12.5k all seater?
Total capacity = 12,392

East = 2,636
West = 4,814
South = 2071
North = 2,222
Totals = 11,743

Guessing the 649 difference is corporate (directors area and boxes)

Tom Lawrence says new safety certificate takes us up to nearly 10,000. X, Y& Z (North West Quadrant) holds 1,400 so that’s more or less the gap.

SOUTHEND United have received the go-ahead to re-open the north-west corner of Roots Hall.

The Shrimpers had originally been working towards using the previously unsafe area of the ground from Boxing Day onwards.

But, after drawing Charlton Athletic in the first round of the FA Cup, the plan was brought forward.

And Blues chief executive Tom Lawrence has revealed attendances will now be able to rise by 1,400.

Writing on the club website, Lawrence confirmed: “Our original goal was to secure certification to reopen the north-west quadrant and north-west yellow seats for our Boxing Day fixture, which would add an extra 1,400 seats for home supporters.

“However, drawing Charlton Athletic in the Emirates FA Cup first round provided an opportunity to expedite the works, enabling us to increase our away capacity for this match and generate additional revenue by raising the usual away allocation of 815 in the north-east blue seats section.

Today, we received sign-off on the works from the Southend Council and Essex Police, allowing us to provide Charlton with an additional 1,100 tickets.”

But, after Saturday’s cup clash, the area of the ground will be used by Shrimpers supporters.

Lawrence added: “Going forward, we’ll return the NWQ and NW (yellow seats) sections to home fans, with full details coming soon.

“Supporters can look forward to refurbished toilets, refreshed facilities, a new bar, and an enhanced food selection provided by Eat Street.

“We recognise that other areas of the stadium also need upgrades, and we are committed to continually improving all stands.

The completed works will increase our stadium capacity from 8,500 to nearly 10,000, which is a significant boost for the club.”

And Lawrence was keen to praise those who helped to make it happen.

He said: “A huge thank you to Bernadette Bowden of Southend City Council, Keith Baker of Essex Police, Mick Maddocks at Emersons, Alan Reeve of Complete Construction, Ross Ebner and RCE Garden & Property Maintenance, and Michael Day at Solopress, along with their respective teams.

“Their collective efforts were instrumental in securing the necessary approvals.”

Birmingham at home in the next round will also help..
It certainly would for our son-in-law as he is a Brum supporter. It would also mean that our daughter and grandchild would comedown too. Would Mrs RHB surrender her ticket so he could watch the game?

I suggest the club doesn't pay HMRC until completely necessary. Yes, it means embargoes, legal fees, threats to our existence, but it's worked out fine for us in the past.
