Breaking News Facilities Update - North Bank (NWQ) X block now open

Come on guys, there's enough repetitive nonsense in other parts of this forum about attendances falling, and not supporting the team because you don't like the way it plays, but at least it's in relevant threads. Now some posters are starting to take over other threads with it, and taking any opportunity to turn the discussion onto it. Can we at least keep this thread on the topic of facilities, NWQ and Block X please?

Thanks James

So much positivity happening at the club, things are being addressed and EVERYTHING is moving in the right direction.

The news about the stadium should help build the atmosphere, as long as the fans still support the team.

On the pitch currently yes, it is a slow burner but come on, be realistic @Tommy2holes - NLS?! Abject performances? We are not a bad team, we just aren't playing well.

The club is on the up, the tide needs to turn yes with regards to results/performances but let's stay with them. The club is in a much better place, let's please just ensure that the support remains throughout the games.

The only way to make the North Stand work for us (in terms of creating an imposing atmosphere), and crucially, to do it safely, is to convert to safe-standing, however you'd have to do it to the whole stand, not just a portion.
More to the point, the SGSA have been clamping down on standing in seated areas for a couple of seasons, and now really have the daggers out (more so at PL level, but applies across the pyramid), ergo standing in Block X isn't going to be able to last forever.
Which is the point I made previously. At the moment standing in the North is being considered in the context of it being allowed in the West. There is no safe standing in the West, and to the extent people do, it both has a short life and exposes the club from a h&s viewpoint. The North needs to be THE safe standing option and then many will move.

If it is the case that the ‘home’ part of the North can’t be safe standing independently then make the whole of the North safe standing (including for away fans).

Otherwise if North remains seated, as is, the incentive to move will be limited, many won’t and all we are doing is increasing capacity (not a bad thing).

However, there will remain no safe standing areas in the ground and those standing in the West will probably only get away with doing so for a period.

How long would it take to convert the North to actual safe standing and what sort of works/costs?

Meanwhile the club should not be disappointed or surprised if the North is not heavily utilised as what is required for success on that score isn’t being implemented.

Several threads drifting off various OP topics and onto this narrow discussion as you say James.

It has a really negative impact on the forum if it’s allowed to persist, as people become weary of the the same broken record issue dominating across any discussion, so thanks from me too for highlighting this.
