Get rid. He is putting no pressure on Eastwood and Corr and doing nothing from the bench. He is a non league player. Need to get a loanee from the championship. The Watford lad would fit the bill. Can't rely on Eastwood and Corr for goals all season. Midfield needs to start chipping in too.

I understand that he has hardly set the world alight. but??? As I said earlier in this thread can we guarantee getting in someone better?? If not then I suggest we keep Don on board for if anything happens to Barry or Freddy we';ll be left up slack alley as regards numbers. I thought Seedy Njie would have figured more prominantly on the bench this year but as yet that hasn't been the case so Phil Brown must see something in Don in training. Like Chapperz was saying this time last season people were slagging off Gavin Tomlin and were doing so a bit more into the season as opposed to the stage they're at now.. So give him a fair crack and hes not getting minutes under his belt because of no reserve side and Freddy and Barry being first choice.
Even when Tomlin wasn't scoring there was something there i just can't see that with Cowan

This was becauise Tomlin was fit and played regularly. Cowan is not fit because he is not playing regularly. Not his fault considering Fred and Barry are first choice and there is no reserve team. If this Watford lad is better on paper then ruthless decisions have to be made , maybe dispensing with Don, but if in truth we're struggling to find anyone better than Don has to kept on if only for the sake of numbers.

I'd be happy to give him another month, he wasn't fit enough when he came but after the time he's been here there should be enough of an improvement to tell. Brown and Coughlan see him in training, we don't. I'm happy to go with their judgement either way.

Yes, I'd go along with that. Really not easy for the lad yesterday, he was brought on late, shoved up front alone and most of the time had to try and deal with balls lumped up to him, when heavily outnumbered by defenders. Not easy to impress under those circumstances...........having Said that, perhaps they're the only kind of chances he's going to get.....it's a tough life!

takes four weeks to get match fit then you can judge him, give a mth to mth to see what he can do,caus real pace is asset just like gray not great in front of goal but made things for fredy with is pace

big no for me, saw him come on against Hartlepool and Chesterfield, did nothing, doubt he actually touched the ball, looking a nothing player

Seen him in every gane he has played.

This is a very tough call, if this is true and the guy from Watford
is waiting to come in when the month's contract expires.

I would go for that, a tough decion in a tough business, but Cowan would
be unlucky with that decsion as he is obviously not as fit as the other's.
That only comes with playing games!!.
Yesterday i dont think he did too bad.He was left on his own after both our strikers
went off and was on his own chasing everything.Which he did fairly well.

Our standards have improved massivley this season. He could be a victim of that.
You cant stand still though. It depends on what we have in the pipeline.
He is not Ryman material though, better than that.
Is he good enough for our level this season the jury's out.

Well reasoned out.:Worthy:

He is ****ing **** and will end up at Ryman league level, next......

Rob what I will say and i say it without getting funny put yourself in Don's position. If it were you I think you would think slightly differently. I think you'd think it will be harsh on you given the reasons me and slapheadsteve have put forward.

Bit pointless taking players like this on a months contract with no reserves football. If we were playing regularly in the reserves league, Cowan would gain match fitness and sharpen up, whilst showing Brown what he's all about. The odd 10/15 minutes on as a sub every other game is never really going to benefit him all that much.

I say let him go and let him drop down a few leagues to get a decent run of games and hopefully score a few goals, as he's not played much football at all for a 23 year old. If this young lad is ready to come in from Watford then lets go for it. We can't afford to be carrying players like Cowan when the squad is limited by the umbongo.

Best of luck to him and I can see why Brown did what he did, but it hasn't worked out and it's probably best for us and him to part company so he can get some games and get fit.

I couldn't say and I think factors such as alternative players, the Um Bongo position and finances will feature in the final decision.

I've seen him (Cowan) at Hartlepool and Chesterfield and, as others have said, he did nothing on both occasions but the circumstances were very hard for him (Cowan).

Difficult decision but that is what Browny and Penney are being paid for.

He already played "behind the door" friendly match, so he should at least have match fitness topped up & full month training too, so he should be fit. I rather let him go, to make room for new forward who can offers something different to what we have. Cowen should go to place like Dartford or Braintree to get back playing and put himself back in shop window.
