Expectations

I do follow your thought process and definitely nothing wrong with having high hopes, but in my opinion, for what it's worth, it can only be hopes if you don't weigh up the reality of the situation. Take that into consideration and a realistic expectation pretty much manifests itself.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that your hopes for the season comes to fruition 👍
Much appreciation to COSU for stepping up and taking the reins to save our beloved club. We were ground into the dust by a man who had no care for Southend United, and sadled us with huge debts.
Now that the Rat has gone, we should be looking skyward, with huge crowds and many well healed owners, who wouldn't think that.
For far too long we have been down, now that the tide has turned, we should feel confident, and ambitious to return the Blues to where we belong.
It's good to have high expectations, as the rot has now stopped. Be positive as success should not be too far away.

Don’t muddle expectation with hope! We should expect that the Club is well run both on and off the field and that everyone gives 100 per cent all the time and that the club is respected . We can’t expect to get promoted but we can hope that everything falls into place and that we get our fair share of luck and that we achieve promotion. Promotions are very rare and can’t be bought.

We shouldn’t expect that the Consortium donate loads of their own money to achieve this.

We can hope that somehow the Club can correct the appalling run of results from Saturday home games. Crack this and we have a chance.

I’m expecting a much tighter league this season. 7 or 8 teams in it for the title.
Then us powering through to win it with 89 points.

Expectations:
1 - we finally draw a line under the Rat era, and
2 - COSU continue to make huge strides behind the scenes to secure our long term future as a club and as a community asset.
3 - we retain as many of this season;s squad as possible, including agreeing terms with Macauley Bonne, doing everything possible to not lose GSM and add 2-3 more signings to the squad

Hopes:
1 - we smash this dammed league and get automatic promotion!
2 - we start scoring a raft of goals, from across the pitch!

Reality:
Play off finish, within top 4 ideally.
