Absolutely.....however, if you believe Everton fans, Martinez doesn't have a long tenure at the Toffee's...IMO a lot will hang on if they win the F.A Cup....interesting scenario for Bentley to become a part of .......(£1 mill pretty please)

That's according to the sun, the Mail on Sunday says they want Tom Heaton. Can't see them signing Heaton so Bentley would be a good signing for them. Robles has stepped in nicely and Bentley could be blooded slowly ala Butland and Hart.

I've always rated Martinez as being a first class manager. Although he is Spanish by birth, he really understands the British mentality towards football and speaks football tongue fluently. They would be mad to get rid of him, but we are talking Premiership here and a new owner. Back to the Bentley rumour, Tim Howard is now 37, not exactly old for a keeper but maybe someone like Daniel would be good for them at this time. £2m would be a steal for a Prem club like them.:winking:

Howard's off to Colorado Rapids once the season's finished.

Everton would be a great move for Bentley.

So, Everton's manager might get the heave and ho, eh.

Their defence is a mess.

What sort of manager, with Premiership credentials, bases his thinking on getting the defence right, starting with the goalkeeper?

* puts 2 + 2 together *

As someone who also has a soft spot for Everton, they are defo after Heaton and also the Ajax keeper. They will also have a few quid to spend so would think these two are good options, with someone like Bentley as maybe third choice. Can't see the Bentley thing really happening. Don't think he is quite ready for the prem league yet

Not sure where he would fit in though. Everton are on the look out for a new potential number one to fight alongside Robles for the shirt and also already have a very good U21 keeper. Can't see where Bentley would fit in. Looking at the Everton message boards, most of the talk is about Tom Heaton and the Ajax keeper.

Everton are too big a club for him. They have been woeful at home this season and last season, if I'm right they have won something like only 5 home games since the start of 2015. He has done well in the cup competitions but league wise he comes up well short. I've been to Goodison a few times this season, a majority and thus is a vast majority want him gone at the end if the season even if they win the cup. Evertonians want to be pushing top 4, and with the new investment they want a manager capable of getting them there. The danger this/next season due to a lack of European football the likes of Lakaku, Stones, Mccarthy and Barkley might well leave to find it. Going to be a big summer, think they will be looking bigger than the likes of Bentley.

I didn't say it was a likely move, just that it would be a good move for him. Everton's track record in bringing through U18/U21s into the senior side is very impressive. Bentley's probably on a lot of clubs' lists, and of course he'll be further down Everton's because they'll be after the likes of Cillessen.

Heaton's an interesting one though. Have to imagine that if Burnley get promoted this season he'll fancy staying around, unlike Bentley who's a completely different prospect and would be prized away from us without much trouble at all.

As others have said, would be the perfect move for Dan if he can get it. Would be a little surprised but not completely shocked if it came off.

Perhaps they'll bring in a Heaton/Cillessen quality keeper to compete for number 1 with Roebles and loan Dan out for a season or 2 until he can force his way in to the reckoning if one of them goes, similar to what Stoke did with Butland.

Why ? A season on the bench and a few Cup games.

I can't believe he's ready for Premiership football. Championship ? Probably. Premiership one day? Possibly.

But remember when Stoke bought Butland and City bought Hart they were both loaned out. It would do him the world of good to be at a Premiership club with better facilities and coaching. And whilst at Everton he could attract interest from better clubs looking to loan him.

You're right of course. Just shows how out of touch I am with football. If I joined a club, I'd want to be part of that club, play for that club, win things with that club. Not arrive and then be dispatched for a loan or series of loans playing for random clubs.
Would football be better off without the loan system? Personally I think so.

Mick, I think you need to look on that as a sort of apprenticeship with decent pay.

A bit of a step backwards (being loaned out) with a view to the future.

Oh, I understand the benefits. I just think it's fundamentally wrong that a lower division club can win promotion on the strength, say, of a goalkeeper borrowed from a Premiership side.

Or a striker borrowed from Charlton.

I really don't get this 'they are too bigger club for him'. If a Premiership club shows interest in a player then they think he is good enough, or will be, under their guidance. I don't believe that Bentley could walk into a Prem defence and become number 1, but that is a lot different from saying they are too bigger club. As this is only newspaper gossip it's probably immaterial for the moment anyway.
