Southend Uniteds board will meet today to discuss whether or not to sell the football club to a ten strong mystery consortium...

my feelings on this is why the mystery? who are these people? what are their names? whats their financial background? do they know how to run a football club?

before you offer to buy a business you want to look at the accounts have they done this?

i've seen this in football clubs before where these consortiums come forward, it happened at leyton orient before barry hearn took over, i would advise extreme caution on this and lets dig deep to find out who these people are and whether they are qualified. do they meet the football league criteria?

I agree - The Shrimpers Trust know who these people are and I think they should reveal to the fans exactly who they are - especially after we all chucked money in their buckets Friday! :)

No we don't know anything for sure - but should the trust gain any knowledge I am sure we would issue a statement keeping the fans in the know as we have done all through last week and this week, but if you have any direct questions please feel free to e-mail the trust direct or post a question in the trust forum.

Perhaps they are a company of property developers who want to get involved with a football club to make money out of moving to a new stadium and putting a supermarket on the old site. Oh sorry, been there before !

Whatever we may think, if the board is meeting to discuss the consortiums offer..............it means that they are taking it seriously. Some on here yesterday believed that it would be at the least rejected out of hand and at the worst, totally ignored.
I'm trying to work downstairs for a fair this weekend .........this is not proving easy. One of the most important 24 hours in the club's history comes to mind..........with rather more excitement than the TV series and with the added element .................we don't know what the end of the story will be.

I don't see how anyone could think there was anything 'dodgy' about 'a consortium of Essex businessmen'.

The two terms don't belong in the same sentence.

I feel Ron should be working hard on getting the cash together and not having his time wasted by this. The fact this is being entertained suggests we arent going to find the money. Possibly worrying

I think I would rather have administration than be taken over by various wealthy supporters. Clubs need to be run by the head, not necessarily the heart

Has anyone considered the option that the board may not be meeting with any consortium at all? And it could be The Echo dramatising?

the only way I see ron/property company letting control go is if they are left in charge and then profit from the fossetts development while leaving the running of the club to others......

think the board are meeting to discuss the consortium not actually meeting the consortium x

well the clock is ticking and we'll see what develops, the evening echo are very good at 'dramatising' as you put it. tomorrow it'll be someone else...

NAIL ON HEAD, Ron will let go if they agree to basically Ron getting his spade out and they pay him to build FF...

Rons plan is working!!!!
