I used common sense as the basic math simply does not work !

If the figure was true, then why not allow 20,000,000 immigrants to settle here, surely their net contribution would make us all richer?

Wow, really. Excellent job. I'd imagine the razor sharp minds of the FT used a bit more analysis than sticking a finger in the air.

Well, I for one am glad we've finally got our brightest minds on this case. At least now we might be able to make some sense of it all.

We need your bright mind, thank goodness you have joined the debate:hilarious:

You give me too much credit. To coin a phrase used by the Blackpool chairman, I am but a mere intellectual cripple compared to the genius dismissing a figure reached by teams of trained and experienced analysts as “poo poo”.

Oh ESB, superb. I wish I could give you more than a simple "like".

And now we're turning to homophobic abuse rather than reading the data. Excellent - something in there not to your rather narrow world view? :whistling:

Nice to know the sniping against TUIB continues whilst the evidence of huge economic benefits of immigration from the EU has been ignored still.

Head in the sand girls and boys?

Lol, it's not sniping at all.

Back on point, I've got nothing against immigrants coming to work here & better their lives. Fair play to them. What we can't allow to continue though, is an open door policy, where we seemingly let all & sundry in. Surely some kind of cap is common sense? Or else, where do we stop? 100k? 500k? 1m? 5m? 10m?

Hardly homophobic is it? I've got absolutely nothing against you performing those kind of acts mate, each to their own

Agreed - but its a moral maze. As I've said, we're one of the very reasons why people are fleeing their home countries due to our foreign policies but even the lefty in me realises that we can't have unfettered immigration. I, and probably all of the "great and good" have no solutions to what is an impossible problem.

EU Immigrants, however is a seperate issue and we've signed up to the treaty - and it's brought us huge economic benefits. Why would anyone want to drop that tie I don't know, because who's going to make up that £bn tax shortfall every year?

:hilarious: Yeah because back in the 60's and 70's and 90's the problem of immigrant migration to the UK was just as bad back as it is now :hilarious: You really should try reading back to yourself the stuff you type before clicking the 'post reply' button. You wouldn't make yourself look so much of a tit you know.

As I said. You've not lived here for years therefore you can't even begin to understand what it's like to ive with it and deal with it and consequently your delusional posts mean absolutely nothing.

On the other point. Next time you grace us with your presence here in good ol UK we'll have to meet up in the Spread where you can call me a right wing bigot to my face. You'll then definitely appreciate the NHS you haven't paid into for years

Don't use the Spread on matchdays because I refuse to drink out of plastic glasses.

FYI,I've paid into the Spanish health system for years now and always carry a European Health Card, (which entitles me to free health care in the UK), when I'm back in London/Southend.

I'll be over In September for whichever of our games is switched to a Friday night. You can find me pre-or post match at The Cricketers.

Or a Labour government that opened the flood gates in the first place.

I was interested to hear David Blunkett on the Daily Politics yesterday point out that the Tories have only just now got immigration down to below the levels it was running at under Labour.

Yet Labour get blamed for "opening the flood gates in the first place." You couldn't make it up.:hilarious:

I didn't need to make it up though, did I.

Nothing casual about my predjudice against right-wingers.It's life-long and merited.

I notice you chose to highlight just one sentence from my post rather than contest any of the other points I raised.

:hilarious::hilarious: Something else you couldn't make up, eh, kettle. :hilarious::hilarious:

I thought you had your tipple in the Shrimpers bar?

I was referrig to the fact that it's taken the Tories nearly six years to get immigration figures down below their previous highest point under Labour.

I thought you had your tipple in the Shrimpers bar?

Haven't used the SB for a few seasons now. It's a barn of a place.

Usually pop in for a pre+post match pint at The Groundsman's Arms (the bar under the East stand).

The scenes in Calais today are awful, drivers actually being attacked in their cabs and the French seem to do little to offer any protection. Can't we send some British tommies over to patrol the access to the port?!!!! (That's not serious by the way!)
