Saw an Essex rep team taking on a local team at Southchurch Park yesterday for David Masters' benefit lunch. Thought it would be a couple of seniors and some yoofs but they sent the whole team down other than Ravi (and obviously Cook!). Didn't take it easy either with RtD brutalising the club bowlers. Sat with Shaun Tait at the lunch, nice guy and took all the Aussie bashing with good grace. He said his favourite format to play was T20 so I told him he had to finally end our Finals Day hoodoo!

I see Essex have signed Gautham Gambir as the overseas for the remainder of the season. He replaces Hamish Rutherford, and will be available for the CC game against Northants next week.
