visited there on a warm summers day,the place was fairly deserted apart from several lads fighting and around 50 police trying to stop it,tramp chucking up his guts and finally couple of little scrotes damaging cars.
 
Reading through this thread I'm torn between trying to defend Middlesbrough or enjoying seeing it getting so many nominations.
There are some bad areas in Middlesbrough and the town centre is soulless but there are some decent areas too. There are also arguably even worse areas than Middlesbrough in the vicinity eg Thornaby.
Surprised Darlington has got a few votes too.

Away from all the obvious choices of Hull, Luton, Bradford etc, I found Yeovil a very depressing town. it had nothing going for it other than nice countryside around it. Most of the pubs & shops had shut down & the town had a feel of a ghost town on the Saturday night I stayed a few weeks ago.
 
I do a lot of fishing at Tilbury and Grays and the whole area is a dump. I could also add Daventry to the list of crap towns, not that I have been there, but everytime I have driven pass it, it has always rained (maybe the Manchester of the Midlands?). I could also add Barry Island to the list. Its a total dump, mass unemployment squalor houses and English hating welsh idiots. Oh and I nearly died there.
You could also add Bradford (terrorist city), Hull (obesity city) Dover (Immigrant city) to the list.

thurrock in the last few years has become the dumping ground for all and sundrie which in turn has had an adverse effect on the borough.

thurrock is now in my view a total toilet.
 
Ilford and Walthamstow..they alway were the worst places to work for me.
