As for Francis, I'd be more in favour of sending Gilbert back to Arsenal than loaning out Francis.

Totally agree. Gilbert's here on loan (i.e. extra wages) and still not getting a game (because he's been a disappointment, IMHO). Why keep him here and then push Francis (who was looking good in pre-season before his injury) out?

As everyone else has said Hooper has supposed potential but never done anything, I cant see why we would keep him but do think he could be one of these players who need a move to get going again.

Francis does surprise me, thought he would be first choice in this division.

Funny how he seems to have a great reputation now when he got regularly slated last season. Hasnt even kicked a ball yet!

Francis and Hammell were part of a back line that leaked 80 goals last season and far too many in pre-season on the way to a shocking run of defeats and draws that had similarities with the Alvin Martin era. Now they're not in the team we stop leaking so many and actually win a few games....I think it's obvious to everyone that regardless of whether they are good players "on their day" changes were required at the back.

As for Hooper I still haven't seen a good performance from him, maybe he will blossom at the O's (if his dad lets him) and it's time to say goodbye.

Whats obvious to me is they were playing in the Championship which is a higher league with better teams.

Hammell and Francis havent played in this division yet and we have hardly been keeping clean sheets.....

I have to say I definitely go along with the main consensus regarding Francis. He was disappointing in the first half of last season but improved a lot after Christmas. By all accounts he was one of our best players during pre-season and would have surely started as first choice right-back had he not got injured.

The ironic thing is that bringing in Gilbert was arguably a compliment to Francis as Tilly clearly wanted a right-back at short notice who had similar attributes; yet now both are being kept out of the squad by a player who, while better than most on here give him credit for, is really only doing 'a job' at right-back.

It's disappointing to see Francis not making the 16, particularly as I thought he had an excellent game against Watford in the Carling Cup but has barely been seen since. At the very least I'd have him in the squad instead of Wilson.

As for Hooper, I've always rated him and think he definitely has potential to be a very decent striker. For whatever reason, however, he hasn't really grabbed opportunities when he's made the first XI. With Charlie Mac probably ahead of him in the pecking order and Odhiambo possibly staying for the forseeable future, I'd be very surprised if he didn't go out on loan very soon.

Shame if Francis does leave, always rated him highly even before he signed for us.

Perhaps it's down to reasons such as failing to settle in the area that he's being linked to a move away from RH.

Did I read on here a while back that he is one of the top 5 earners at the club.

Hoops and Francis have both been questioning Tilly alot recently about them not being involved in the 16 and this is probably his way of shutting them up. I think Tilly is dealing with certain issues very badly and this seems to be one IMO!

I think in fairness Hooper has had chances and has done the sqaure root of **** all to keep his place. He also seems to be a right moody ******* who gets owned by his old man so I for one wont loose any sleep if he goes.

Great to hear such a reaction from Flavs - but i wouldn't expect anything less from him as he is a true professional. Francis and Hoops are just speculation - i reckon hooper will go on loan to borient with a permanent move part of the deal. As for Simon - i would rather he stay - but with Gilbert here until feb. maybe Tilly will decide to let him go until jan. at the latest and bring him back for cover with some fitness / match practice under his belt

Yes....where we're aiming to go. We should be aspiring beyond last season's failure.....

We need players who can do well in this league at this moment.

I dont see why we should leave out two players who are no doubt good enough for this level because they arent good enough for a division we dont play in.

We arent going to be able to attract Championship level players to a club our size whilst in league one and if you use that logic we should be dropping our whole team...

Care to elucidate as I for one don't understand what you are trying to say. Thanks

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one but check the stats we shipped goals to all manner of sides with them in the team, including teams relegated to this division and several non-leaguers in pre-season. Changes were required, they have been made and now things are looking tidier at the back for it.

I maintain that we are a far better team defensively with Hunt rather than Francis. Hunt knows how to defend. Francis has got ability but doesn't know how to defend, he switches off and for all his ability on the ball his distribution is kamikaze.

I think our good spell last year "coincided" with Francis being dropped. IIRC our best performances came with him out of the side eg Birmingham, Cardiff, QPR, West Brom.
