Echo - Tilson in for Clarke?

I think ultimately we have to trust Tilly on this issue. After all, it was he who pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute - and at the time it was a very brave decision considering Leon's scoring record.

If Tilly has clear-the-air talks with Leon (if he hasn't already, which has been suggested) and Leon genuinely wants to atone for his behaviour and knuckle down in a Blues shirt for a sensible price and wage, I'd be happy for him to return. He did look a class act, not just in his goalscoring but also his ability to bring other people into play. I think he and Barnard could potentially be an excellent partnership.

Good post, agreed 100%

A step backwards if you ask me. He was good when he first come to Roots Hall, but his attitude was ****e thereafter.

Hasn't Tilly learnt his lesson in signing crap strikers, Foran, Harrold, and Paynter et al.

I'd rather keep Charlie Mac than sign Leon Clarke.

Who the hell is Leon Clarke anyway?? :)

he is worth a gamble.... sign Leon on a one year contract with a clause stating a option to extend to another three years with us... I reckon the boy will come good.... come on Steve I know he let us u and Southend United FC down BUT we all deserve a second chance in life.... everyone’s is human and make mistakes.... Leon knows this and loves Southend/Essex, reminds me of a young Stan collymore was not liked at Crystal palace etc attitude... but came good with the Shrimpers...

Leon Clarke is no Stan Collymore and that's a fact...

This surprises me - according to the grapevine while Clarke was on loan here Tilly spoke to a lot of the managers that he had played under. They pretty much all said the same thing - plays well when looking for a contract, then sits back and hardly does anything when he's got one. A good player to get on loan, but not to sign long term.
