Echo - Fee holding up Mulgrew deal

As Canvey said, I do wonder if it's a case of waiting to see what can be negotiated in terms of Freddy's exit from Molineux. If he's off for £1.5m to Coventry, QPR or whoever and where due a percentage of that profit, I am guessing if we agree to lessen or waive what we're due, then it might well pave the way for Charlie to sign. Glad to see wages not likely to be a stumbling block and that we're also trying to recruit another defender too (although as much as I think we need experience, I'm not sure a 39 y/o Chris Powell is the exact answer).

Exactly. If there is an agreement in principal then Mulgrew will know where he stands and be playing next season & other clubs will not be sniffing.

Hopefully we are looking to off-set the price of Mulgrew against any profit due back to us under any re-sale clause for Freddie. Paying them net or even potentially getting Mulgrew free if Freddie sells for a tidy enough profit would be excellent business.

For example, if we may be on about 25% profit and he went for 500k more now he is fully fledged international, then that's 125k off the price of Mulgrew - only £25k to pay.

Be nice to think Freddie would develop into a £5M signing in the future !!

Tilly should just pay up for Mulgrew and stop stalling. He'd be a great signing.

How can Tilly justify spending for example £200k on Paynter, then baulk on paying £150k for Mulgrew?

The mind boggles!!!

Or is it Ron doesn't want to pay £150k??

Sometimes i do wonder about this club!!
