Forget all this sentimental rubbish about Freddy Eastwood. Yes, he was prolific in his first spell but post Man Utd he was being carried and frankly was not helpful in his attitude or performances. He's come back older and heavier having been in the wilderness at Coventry. Anytime he has payed for Southend with the exception of maybe two or three of his early performances he's been disappointing. Lets put this to bed once and for all, he is not up for it. There are other players ahead of him that are fitter, more eager and frankly more useful. Stop bleating over this same boring old subject. Rarely do second time around players perform like they previously did.

Spot on Harry. Following the Man Utd game his attitude definitely changed and for me he then never fulfilled his potential. Now he is just taking a decent wage and doing bugger all to justify it.

I have now decided to comment on this boring and pointless thread after reading through it for the past few days.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Eastwood wasn't a PS signing. He's admitted to Eastwoods quality, but said his work rate is what lets him down and therefore is why he hasn't cemented a place in the first team, injuries aside.

Let's face it, I'm sure Eastwood would start banging the goals in if we were a team that didn't defend from the front and played good passing football, but we don't. Our tactics require defending from the front, playing balls in behind the defence and having an amazing workrate. None of them attributes there suit Eastwood, and therefore he will never be a part of this team whilst Sturrock is here, unless he changes his game type, which as a 27 year old "experienced" striker isn't going to happen.

Definitely kept scoring goals for us you mean ?

Thats a myth that he stopped playing after that game.

What definitely changed was peoples perception of him, they knew he would be leaving so started attributing every little thing down to him "wanting to leave". He looked lazy and laid back his whole time here

If he was so desperate to leave us he could have done the summer before, he gave us 3 seasons, more than most have.

Wondering that as Luggy is not there today, whether Eastwood may get more than a few minutes should it be necessary.

I think the answer to that one was "no"!

I'm hoping with a rush of games in the next 10 days that he will get to make an appearance or two.
